Yellow Top or Red Top?

Been through two EverStarts in the past year and a half. Won't buy them again. Next battery will be the best DieHard I can get. Brother has had his for years and no problem! Had one in my Pathfinder back in the day too.

Anybody run Interstate? The Jeep I bought my fiance' has one and it looks old as hell so it's crossed my mind to get one of them if reviews stack up good.

All I run in everything I own is Interstate. But I do buy them for cost at my old employer so I do make out.

I've got an Autocraft Silver in my Ltd, and a DieHard Gold in the SR5. Both came with the trucks, though.

Well I don't blame you there then. LoL The best I can do is get tax free off O'Reilly parts because of family dealership so I might get one there and try it out. My battery is corroting (spelling) badly so will clean it up for now and deal with it for a but longer. I looked over Optima but saw reviews on them as well not being so good so that was a no go.

Hard to go by what other people like or not. Depends on their speaker setup, chargers, dvds, etc.

This is one of the main reasons I will always buy AGM Gel batteries. Zero corrosion. It doesn't matter which brand, Optima, Diehard, Exide, if it's an AGM Gel type it should not ever cause corrosion. The longer life and vibration resistance just makes it more worth the extra cost.

Thinking about it, you know how they always say to be careful when jump starting cars and hook the last ground cable to the block or somewhere other than the battery terminal? They say that because the last connection usually sparks and a spark will ignite the fumes evaporating from the battery. The fumes are what causes the corrosion. So since the gel batteries don't evaporate and cause corrosion they also should be much safer. (at least from exploding)
 
I installed a Costco Kirkland battery a couple of years ago to the tune of about $60. As cfrank1 said, I knew they were identical to the DieHards and DuraLasts and Costco has a 36 month full return policy, then a pro-rated warranty up to 6 years. How are you supposed to beat that?

BTW, if any one is reading this thread because their battery just feels like it it laboring on start, consider that it may be your starter contacts.
Mine just went out a few weeks ago, but starting felt sluggish for a while prior to that. After replacing the contacts (fun! :nono:) the truck started much quicker since it was getting the full current applied to the started motor.
 
Thanks for all your opinions guys. Did a little more research, searched a few other forums and I've come to the conclusion that I won't be buying an optima. Most likely gonna be going with the Diehard Platinum.
 
Thanks for all the good info, does anyone know if Diehard makes a Platinum with the combined top terminal posts and screw on side terminals?:redbrick:
 
Been running my Yellow top for 2yrs with off road lights, two amps and lots of winching. No problems. Love it and I might get a second one for more lights and an inverter.....one day.

have several friends with Yellow tops that love them... word on the street is that 1 out of every 4 or 5 dies in one year. If they are still under warranty you are ok.

I went with the DieHard Platinum which is a rebranded and cheaper Odyssey battery from Sears. I talked with a Sears tec in the know that informed me that its the same battery that the government has in all of their vehicles. You can mount them upside down, sideways or however you want. They are a gel cell battery.

If you offroad at all you want one of these as they are much more apt at taking the vibrations of offroad that the other glasspack batteries cant take.
