Yes, another lift thread

Sorry to start a new thread, trust me I'd rather not. I know about the other threads out there, I've read them all, I've been researching this thing for weeks now... I need some questions answered...
I want a lift, ideally I would like 2.5-3 in front and 3-3.5 in back. I'm pretty set on the Tundra/5100's up front and as for the back, I want the lift of the 890's but the ride of the LC's (that's probably the first time you've heard someone say that right?)... so, the one that I want is the classic Tundra/5100's and LC 7.5 or 8/5125's. But at this point I may just go with 890's in the back just cause its hard to find the LC coils. I'm not looking for a Cadillac dream cloud ride, all I want is something comfortable and somewhat smooth since this is my daily driver. I'm gonna throw out some questions here, pick which one('s) you would like to answer...

-Anyone with these lifts, lemme know what your ride is like.
-Ome 890's with Bilstein 5125's, how is the ride?
-Where did you find your Tundra coils? I would like new but the local dealership said they'll set me back $220 PER COIL!
-How are the Toytec/Eibach front coil lift springs? How are they compared to the Tundra's?
-Are Bilsteins the way to go? Comfort wise?

Thanks-
and again, sorry for starting a new lift thread.

Haha, I kid, I kid.
If you plan on towing or wheeling hard, then I guess I would suggest going with the Tundra 5100's. Otherwise, I would prefer the Tacoma 5100's because their intended for lighter vehicles and will not be as stiff of a ride.
You could do FJ coils instead of LC coils, also for stiffness reasons. It will be a smooth ride and you'll be satisfied.

I like the 890s and 5125s a lot, but I might switch to the superflex coils for a bit more height. The front end is stiffer than the back end, but that's IFS and I still have my front sway bar on.

You can find tundra coils on shoptrd.com.

I can't compare the toytec/eibach coils to the tundra coils, but I have no issue with my toytec coilovers. You could PM TCMach, or maybe he will chime in, because he has had both on his rig now. He had the SS1.2 front and swapped for the silver eibach coils.

I think it is hard to beat Bilstein for the price range. They are a good mid-grade shock.

Good luck with your decision! It's certainly not easy, but just try to think long-term when you are going through the options.

Haha thanks man. How much lift will the FJ coils give me? what coils do you suggest for the front?

Thanks, good info! So you like the around town/highway ride quality of the 890/5125 combo?

Alright, now I'm thinking
Front: Toytec/Eibach springs w/ adjustable 5100's. (Tundra or Tacoma? I'm probably not going to have armor in the front...)
Rear: Ome 890's w/5125's

Anyone got any more reviews on this setup or one similar? I'm mainly looking for ride quailty.

id sell you my tundra coils both for $200... they are less than a year old. and the only reason i want to sell them is i want to go bigger, i want a full 3" of lift up front, with my almost 5" in the back from the LC 8 wraps... i have maybe 10k miles on my coils, bought them brand new from toyota (actually my father in-law did -he works at a dealer).

the front tundra TRD coils on the 3rd perch (tundra 5100s) is so smooth... its like a factory ride, and imo so perfectly balanced.

I can't say enough about the toytec/eibachs. They ride like a dream. Much better than my TRD Tundras even on the second perch. I have the tundra bilsteins too btw. If I remember correctly the tundra shocks are a little stiffer which is better for towing etc., where the tacos are a little softer (somebody check me on this).

Much like the kid said I could never get a full 3 inches of lift out of my TRD Tundras so I swapped to the toytec/eibachs. Now I have a full 3 inches of lift with my armor with the shocks on the first perch. They match very nicely with my 9wraps as far as the ride goes.

I run Tundra TRD's on 5100's (2nd perch) and 890's with stock Toyota LC shocks out back. It rides amazingly well. I initially had LC 7.5 wraps out back, it was too tall and I didn't like the ride for everyday use.

Personally, I wouldn't spend Bilstein money for the rear unless you're really going to wheel it a lot. Otherwise although I may be bias, I think my set up is better for all around use.

Oh man I laughed so hard. Good shit.

+1 on the superflex coils

Great! I'll send you a pm

Thanks, more great info. You make me really want to buy the toytec/eibachs, but now I'm not sure if I want to cause they create a 3in lift and thats what my back is gonna be with the 890's, and I want a slight rake. Thats why maybe I'll go with the TRD Tundras w/adj bilsteins, so I can get a 2.5 in lift... or idk, if I can find some LC coils somewhere then I'll go with the toytec/eibachs...

Interesting. Yeah, I wouldn't be doing too much wheeling. I'd say 95% of the time would be driving on pavement. Where did you get the LC shocks? and what year are they from? Also what are your height measurements?
EDIT: Which 4Runner of yours has the 890's lift?

Check Slee Off Road for LC coils. Email or call, they sell pairs for $75 when they have them. Used coils are the way to go for the rear with the LC lift. They are usually settled a bit so they lift isn't too high.

I'm running the Toytec adjustables in the front and the 890's and 5125's in the rear. I really like the way it rides. It's a bit harsher than stock, but for good reason. Exactly what I was looking for.

x2 on this, also last time I talked to Slee (october-ish) they were selling them for 50. Irbis Offroad sells them too. Thats where I ended up getting my LC 9 wraps from.

My '99 5 speed. (top link)

You can get the LC shocks from Toyota, 92-95 I think. Or, even better and cheaper, get the Monroe Sensatracs for a 92-95 LC. They ride very well.

I'm about to pull the trigger for my lift....kinda.... I already have Tundra coils, but I still have some things to consider. I honestly won't be be getting tires over 265/75's so looks is kind of a concern with the 890's, but I think it'll be fine right?
Also I don't want to have too many CV problems, and I'd rather not do a diff drop, so now I'm considering tundra's/1st notch and 906's with trim packers in back. I'm gonna get bilsteins in back too. But when I really think about it, 1st notch vs 2nd notch on the front is a difference of .65" right? and 906's with one or two trim packers on each side vs. the 890's is a difference of around .5"? Are those differences really gonna make a big impact on the CV's?

I think I'm gonna go with the first notch w/ 906's +trim packers in back. I'm just afraid of the ride being too rough.

I know about the debates on diff drops and I think I'm for them but idk if I'd bother with one if I did the 2in lift. Or should I do it?

These are the correct Bilsteins to go with my tundra coils right? Bilstein Height adjustable 5100 shocks - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

You guys can respond with whatever, answer some or all my questions. I'm mainly just venting and just like to discuss things to the absolute fullest before I do anything haha.

I currently have mine setup with Tundra 5100 and Tundra TRD springs on the first perch and 906's out in the back. If you want to be 100% sure that this is what you want before you pull the trigger you are more then welcome to come by and check out my truck at some point. jrm was nice enough to do this for me before I bought my lift (Thanks JRM) and that really helped me make up my mind.
Just PM me.
