Yikes! Tree limbs and touch up paint?

Got woken up last night by my car alarm at 2:20am. Came out to find a 40ft long tree limb laying over the top of the truck. Luckily, the limb stay attached to the tree so all I have is a dent on the panel above the rear driver side door. If the limb had come all the way Off the truck would be totaled.

Any suggestions on a good website for finding touch up paint for 4runners? I’m gonna have a body shop fix the dent but I’m hoping to just touch up some of the scratches myself.

I’d just let your insurance company handle all that. Should be covered under your comprehensive coverage and won’t affect your rates. Get it fixed right.

Either buy a touch up pen from your local dealership or order a Dr. Colorchip set. Using a touch up pen is more of a traditional process; prime, paint, clear, and is harder to make look good. Dr. Colorchip is easier to make look good because of the different process it uses, but you may still want to fill in the scratches with some primer or filler so that you're left with a more level surface as the original paint.

Having done both processes, I'd do Dr. Colorchip again, it's just so easy to get a passable repair that's only noticeable when you look directly at it up close. The only downside to it is that the paint and blending solution do have a shelf life of a couple years, whereas touch up pens are good as long as they don't dry out.

They are bit pricey but the color match is perfect. I've used this paint on a number of vehicles and it's always great.

+1 on letting insurance cover it all. Agree with the link for automotive touch up. Great match on my Barcelona red Tundra and Nautical 4Runner.

yeah man I am a bit confused as to why not have your insurance cover it? I took some hail damage to my 2015 a month ago and didn't think twice about putting in a claim. Total damage was close to $5K. Good luck
