You know you're a Third Generation 4Runner owner when...

When your coworker says, "I knew you drive a 4Runner, but I didn't know it was the coolest one around!" :biggrin1:

This definitely made me happy. I just barely started to mod it, so no where near the coolest around, but still pretty cool.

If you drive a stock 4runner, do you ever go to a big box store, then when you go to leave, walk out to your 4runner and hit the remote and wonder why your car isn't unlocking, only to realize you're standing next to someone else's 4runner that looks just like yours?

Happened to me more than a time or two.

When you refer to every drainage dip as a ball joint breaker even when in other vehicles, because you've experienced ball joint failure :frusty:

Rhoda, the Toyota

...you think of your truck like an old friend. You both have been through some rough and tough times together. You're both worn, and show scars of your travels. Quality and care has gotten you both this far. She still makes you smile when you see her...

Not sure what made me think of it, but we had a thread like this over on the RX-7 forum wayyyy back...so lets do it!

"Like" your favorites and I'll keep a best-of-the-best list going in this post!

You know you're a Third Generation 4Runner owner when...
When you just miss a Land Rover that comes sliding out in front of you, and all you think is (It's your lucky day moron).

When you see a stock 3rd gen. And you either pass it, drive next to it or park next to it. So they can be like,"wow is that the same 4Runner like mine ?".

When you spend $3500 on a truck with just under 350k and think about all the modifications that you WANT to do because it's in it's prime.

Literally the waving thing bothers me the most, I wish people were more enthusiastic about these cars...do they even know what they are driving?!

When you have a Northeast 4runner and your going to Texas on business instead of relaxing after a long day, you plan on going rust free 3rd Gen 4runner hunting. Any Tips ?

check title history for where the vehicle originated from, get underneath everything.

i was searching in florida a couple months ago, took a lot of 90s 4x4 duds wether it be from originating in a salted area or spending time in salt water to find one that my jaw dropped getting underneath, it had a title history of california and fl, and had clearly never been off pavement.

The issue ended up being two fold, 4x4s were actually in the minority, and then of those most werent actually salt free.

You go out to your truck and open the door and curse yourself - You can't find that damn squeek! Same with the passenger door, and rear doors!

When the only time it looks anywhere close to being new again is when it's raining, its night time, and its under the correct lighting of the moon or street lights.
