your advice on 2008 urban or wait for new 2010?

If you have the cash for it then sure, but for the avg american who now has a negetive rate of savings, it is dumb to deplete your cash reserves which you need to have now more than ever. pay off your credict cards, crap loans etc, and take out a small car loan with a great rate which you can get these days. again this vary's from person to person.

The financial side is not an issue between my current Highlander loan and this specific Urban in about 1-2k max difference in total loan amount. That said, I have a car loan period so I wanted to get what I really like at a small cost.

I do appreciate the financial concerns from you all to but my wife and I do pretty well and minus our mortgage and car payments, we don't have credit car debts and are on a budget every month and save about $1100 into savings. This does not include my 7% contribution to my 401k match dollar per dollar by my employer and we still manage to tithe to our church every month too :D

Thanks guys...I'm excited as they guy is driving the car to me today so I can check it out. By the way, I live in Texas as one of you guys asked earlier.

Very cool. What color is it? I think the UR only came in three colors. Silver, Pearl White, and Black.

Actually the Blizzard Pearl if very cool! I've seen lefty's up close and it is a great color. It is also a little more rare, as I believe that Blizzard Pearl is the only UR color that is not available on the other models. I also think the Blizzard Pearl compliments the interior colors on the UR very well.

lefty, that is a great color. The last picture of the back, all debaged, I about creamed my pants. :bouncy:

Very nice lefty!!

I'm excited to see this thing. My Toyota dealer that I've been doing business with for the past 8 years is willing to look this vehicle over for me for free before I buy to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it. The Ford dealer that selling me this car has been very easy to work with and besides being willing to drive 70 miles to deliver the car, they are ok with me pulling my stereo amps and sub out and rewiring the car themselves.

I will post pics if I pull the trigger tonight once I get the car checked out.

THanks everyone!

As for the 2008 vs 2010 question, I'd avoid a first-model-year vehicle (assuming 2010 will be the new 4Runner). Toyota has had issues with new releases over the last few years. Sure, that's typical for cars in general, but it hasn't been for Toyota. That 2008 Urban Runner is definitely a well-made vehicle.

FYI, I love my Urban and you will love it too.

I also have the Blizzard Pearl and Lefty's pics just do not do this color justice. In the sun, it sparkles with some green/blue/light red sparkles mixed in. It's the coolest color I've ever seen.

lefty, those are great pics! Is the first one on top of the park'n'ride lot at Dry Creek and I-25?

ougrad1, as you can tell, we're not doing a good job of talking you out of the UR are we? :p Keep us posted and let us know what you decide to do....

yep sure is. she likes to watch the sun set on the rockies

coolpop is right pics can not do the color justice. its hard to pick it up. sometimes when im driving i find myself staring at the corner of the mirrors to wach it shine

Get the UR! You will be happy! With just a few mods this thing is awesome.

The color is way cool too. I was told it is really only offered an a Lexus.

And with that price you can't go wrong. I bought mine new, but if I could do it again I'd fly out and buy that one right out from under you and drive it home with a smile. :D

BOUGHT IT!!!

I bought it!!

So here is the reason they priced it so low, in my opinion. There is a subtle smoke smell in the vehicle and they were worried, being a Ford dealership, that they could not sell it. I took it to the Toyota and they said they could ozone/fogger the smell out in addition to conditioning the leather and thoroughly cleaning out the headliner and dash/plastic to get any smoke residue out. They will also replace the cabin air filter too.

I took them down another $500 to $24,500 and had them pay for the smell removal from Toyota too.

That said, based on the carfax report that the first owner only owned it for 7 months before trading it in, I'm thinking between the fogger/detailing of the car and few more months time, the smell will go away.

Overall, I'm pretty happy. The Tom Tom head unit is crappy. I'm going to replace it with a kinwood unit, so if any of you want to buy the UR head unit, I'll have it available in a week or two.

My UR is getting cleaned up this afternoon but I'll try and post some pics this weekend.

Thanks guys, you all have been great!!

congrats.

that smell is easy to get rid of i wouldnt worry about it.

a few summers ago on my 3rd gen i left the back window open not knowing it was going to rain, well i came out and had a lot of standing water in the back of my car. it stunk pretty bad for a few days. but i shampoo'd the carpet aired it out and that was that. the toyota dealership will be able to clean it up nicely
