Your Runner vs. a Stock Runner

You are so right and others in the rest of the US would be blown away by how many 4Runners you see (every gen but 3rd and 4ths are the most popular) even if you drive just a mile. I've been at a stoplight more than once where every generation is represented so yes,you need a little customization to stand out a little.

Yeah, it is strange how different things can be from one region to another. When I drive to upstate NY (near the Syracuse area) to visit relatives, I hardly ever see another 4Runner at all. I was up there last winter for 3 days and I didn't see another 4Runner anywhere until the last day when I saw a black 4th gen in the parking lot of a ski resort. It's amazing how rare the 4Runner is in that particular area.

When I go to the east coast it's hard to find 4Runners and in Florida you do see some 4th gens but 3rd gens are rare as Subarus out there and when I was in DC 4Runners were very far and inbetween.

lots of 3rd gens in my area, however most are running smaller wheels than 265/70..which makes it look weak and short.

I've seen that a lot with 3rd gens. I hate the way they look with smaller-than-stock tires on them. It almost makes me wonder if people do that just to save money when buying tires.

What's the point of posting pics of 3rd gens next to 4th gens? The 4th gen is TALLER. I have a 3" lift and 33" tires and at stoplights my mirrors are at the same height as most stock pickup trucks yet when I look underneath I have like 5" of morespace. :zoom:

That's a stock '02 on 265/70s and mine is sitting on 265/75 TGs at the time.

Are you lifted at all, or is that stock height? Your 3rd gen looks very close in height to the 5th gen. That's a great comparison shot. I should take one of my 4th gen next to a 5th gen.

His 3rd gen looks lifted to me. The 5th gen is taller stock than the 4th is, so thats why they almost look the same. Thats about the only thing i like about the 5th gen is they actually made them taller.

Ya, my 4runner is lifted around 2" to 2.5" inches (Sonoran Steel 7.2).

Mi lifted 4th gen 4runner next to a 5th gen SR5 and the 2010 stock...still a bit taller than my baby by roof and body..but it looks like I have a bit more ground clearance
