Your second choice?

Couldn't have my 4Runner. I'd go back to what I almost did. Restore an FJ55. It's about the same size, weighs 4000lbs, 106 inch wheelbase 98 cubic feet cargo space etc.

I'd put a small block Chevy, six-speed, a good transfer case and axles. I work at a fabrication shop that builds expensive hot rods and have a good idea of exactly what I'd want. Matter of fact I'm still looking for that cherry original FJ55.

Well, I saw and drove the 03 v8 4Runner, did some research and bought it.

And about those tires, don't you mean to say rim protectors?

The new Toyota Prius looks pretty good too. You can get HID lights, NAVI, stability control, airbags, etc..

Between EVO and STI, i would go for the EVO. I've testdriven both and the EVO feels better...more nimble. In addition, it's a lot easier to get the EVO. You have to be on the waiting list for the STI (low production number) and the dealer charges ABOVE MSRP.

When I was shopping my other choices were the Lancer EVO and the Impreza STI. I know, not exactly SUVs, but I'm glad I chose the 4Runner. I had to stay in the Toyota family for goodness sake...
