Yson07SR5 - 07 SR5 Build Thread

I just picked up a 2007 Nautical Blue 4Runner SR5 with 102k miles. I've been into modifying Japanese cars for awhile, and have had a few fun rides through the years. This is my first truck and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to learn something new.

I drove to Columbus, OH to pick it up at an Infiniti dealer over the weekend, and fell in love immediately. It's spotless inside and out, no rust, and the engine bay is immaculate. (It'll be really hard the first time I take this thing into a mud pit!) I'll be documenting my build and off-road adventures here, and probably asking for advice occasionally.

I've already repaired the melted lift gate button, and plan on doing a few other quick weekend mods like the charcoal filter delete, VSC defeat switch, and independent fogs.

Some of my previous rides:

1982 Toyota Celica Supra
Mom and Dad bought new; handed down

1983 Mazda Rx-7 S
Saved from the junkyard, rebuilt, sold.

First road trip in the 4Runner, and got it a little dirty at the gorge this weekend. The weather was perfect, and the trees are just beginning to turn. Can't wait to hit something more challenging than gravel roads...

Timing belt, water pump, and smart brake recall performed. Declined the gas pedal zawzall mod. I genuinely missed the truck despite having a '15 Highlander rental, they don't even compare.

I finally got a chance to max out the capabilities of the 4WD in the mud, and had to get out the come along. Tried to hook up to my buddy's 22r pickup, but i just pulled him down the hill. I ended up backing out of the hole and blazing a new trail next to it. Bubba needs a bath.

I just noticed today I have some damn mud to clean off the headliner... From having the sunroof open while splashing through some deep flooded ruts. Should be interesting getting that out.

Nice! I love the FB, I had one of those in college too.

Why did you change your mind on the 33s? Spare tire storage?

It pained me to sell the fb, but had to be done. Memories of rebuilding it will always be cherished.

Actually I'm not getting 33's because a lift isn't in the budget yet. These will get me by for a year until after the wedding and honeymoon expenses ;)

Life happens.

Makes sense. Occasionally I regret selling mine, but then I remember how pissed it was when it threw up it's water jacket seals and cost me a motor rebuild.

Trying to decide if buying 265/70R17 BFG AT KO2 at stock ride height is a bad idea... I'm not interested in trimming just yet if they rub. Maybe someone with experience?
