Zero Offset Wheels

Hey guys, got a little question. I really want to do a few more things to the runner before I get married next May. (I am sure y'all can guess why :ballchain.

I am thinking about new wheels, mainly bc recently I got a little spooked after hearing that the spidertrax spacers are not DOT approved (I know this doesnt mean much and there are a million ppl that have run them on the highway for years without a problem).

My question is, if I go with a "zero offset wheel" (would love an explination on what this is) mounted directly to the hub would I get the same stance as I have now with the 1.25 spidertrax?

I know [MENTION=91508]wkeryder4[/MENTION] has done this and states that it gives the same stance. I love those Method Racing wheels he has and am thinking of doing this.

If this is true I would love having the new wheels and a little peace of mind getting rid of the spacer's since most of my driving is highway?

With zero offset, depending on your backspacing you'll end up with roughly the same stance as you would with spacers on stock wheels. I'm running zero offset with 4.5" backspacing and it's almost identical.

i believe stock 4runner wheels are +35mm offset so a zero offset wheel would yield roughly the same look.

35mm/ 25.4mm/in = 1.37" farther out than stock (assuming the wheel you select is the same width, since offset is a function of wheel width)

Stock sport wheels are +30... OP - it's a counter intuitive system. +30 actually means the wheels are inside the fender more. It's easier if you convert the +30 to inches so it'd -1.18 inches in toward the engine. If you kept your stock +30 offset rims and added spider trax @ 1.25 you'd have -1.18 from the +30 and +1.25 from the spacers. if you had a 0 offset rim, it would already be sticking out 1.18 inches further than stock and then added 1.25 spider trax, it would be 2.4 inches out further than stock. If you had a +60 rim, it would be tucked way inward.

Googled a pic of wheel offset, which helped a ton. Those numbers where spinning my head a tad. I think I may full the trigger on the Method wheels then and ditch the spidertrax. How much are '04 limited 5 spoke wheels worth these days? They look in great shape to me.

If you want to give your spacers away to a 16 yr old who's tight on cash and is really wanting to upgrade his runner I'd love you forever hahaha.. But seriously if you want to get rid of them I'll gladly take them off your hands even if I got to pay something I've been looking for spacers for awhile now just can't of ford them working at a pizza place and paying gas
