Baja Runner Long Travel Build

4 days after the new suspension? Why did you decide to sell it? (if I may ask)

These rear shocks have been in the works since December. Just looks like odd timing haha.

In all honesty I love the 4Runner but I want a raptor. It’s an overall better platform for what I do in my opinion. I’m not in a big rush to sell, and I have a fairly high number I want for it. If no one will give it to me I’ll gladly keep it and continue enjoying it.

You hit the nail on the head. Both my pistons are just hanging as well. I’m running no sway bars currently. My body roll isn’t terrible per day but I’m putting both back on after removing the kdss system, so long as the truck isnt sold before I get the chance too. It is listed for sale if there’s any interest on here.

Awesome. I think ill try that next. I want to go LT on mine and was trying to figure out how to do it. |I dont mind taking the sway bars off, as this is not my daily driver.

Not to hijack...but I let my rear piston hang for now, with the rear sway bar off. I plan to rotate the rear piston and strap it up. I am going to remove the front sway soon and drive it to see if I am OK with no bars. I have fairly stiff front and rear springs, so my body roll might not be too bad. I also have not gotten any KDSS light yet.

I helped remove two KDSS systems recently. The hard lines are a pain...ended up just cutting them in multiple place to get them out. I'll remove mine eventually.

Sorry to hijack, anyone tried disabling KDSS from the control unit?? Still hoping someone comes up with some sort of a bypass switch.

Do you have it listed on craigslist or somewhere else online?

No Craigslist add. I did put it on Facebook and am writing an add for racedezert as I type this. Feel free to reach out if there’s any interest and I can provide details

wouldn't it be as """"simple"""" as installing an inline power kill switch? simple lol :behindsofa:

hahahahaha.. yeahh it is!
After all the time/ $$ spent to recharge KDSS, I 'simply' lost all interest in messing with it..

Someone still needs to do this

Out playing in Barstow today she’s a ripper

They’re in, and rather large. But I’m very happy with them [emoji1786]. Testing and tuning this weekend

Killer build man!
Nice to see someone else build a desert ready 4Runner. You're right down the street from me too
I just got done building mine. Same suspension as yours except Camburg's kit on the front and King smoothies in the rear still...

Few questions about your rear shocks though..
Do you have the part number and specs on the rear 2 tube bypasses?
Any issue with tire rub on the larger body?
How big of a difference in the rear did it make? Much less shock fade?

Thanks!

Thanks man

Contact Kellan Meadows at Envy Motorsports (@dirtdreamer on Instagram) for any and all questions about the shocks. He has the spec sheets and part numbers for them.

I have zero issues with tire rub and don’t run wheel spacers.

It’s night and day in my opinion. Shock fade is much less dramatic. Don’t get me wrong after running around Barstow in the big stuff for a while they still get hot and fade but it’s way less noticeable and even once they fade they still work better than my old ones in my opinion, there’s only so much a design like this can take before it gets overworked or breaks anyway. That’s just a matter of knowing the trucks limit and remembering all this stuff is still Bolt-on. Bypasses can be tricky though. I have spent some time tuning the get them really good, and if you don’t know how to do that or have someone tuning that knows what they’re doing it could work worse than what you have now.

Right on thanks for the contact info. I'll shoot him a message when I'm ready to pick a set up.

Glad to hear it... Sounds like a way cheaper/better option than punching through the cab or cantilever setup, haha.
Yeah bypass tuning takes some time for sure. But always worth it once you get it!

Appreciate the response man and good luck with the sale! :thumb:

Getting ready to go under the knife again this week for some lighting improvements. Will be a one off deal that should look awesome. Any guesses on how much money I have laying in my cargo area at the moment? There’s 3 of those 4.5 shock bodies. 2 wouldn’t fit in the pictures [emoji23]

Been a little whine since I updated this, I’ve installed a switch pros, the SDHQ mount inside is legit and the PowerTrays is also pretty neat. Only thing I’m concerned about is having the unit mounted flat which is exactly what switch pros says not to do. So I’ll be modifying that soon here. C4 ladder is getting delivered today and the Prinsu rack was sold. My GFC is done, so when I get some free time I’ll be making the trek up to Montana from so cal to go get it instead of having it shipped and then hit glacier national park while I’m up there. Pretty excited about it.

In other news I also completely destroyed my TRD skid plate to the point where it bent my subframe and folded it into the RCI plate behind it. Ill try and get some pictures later. Will be going to my guy soon to get all straightened out.

Yikes, looking forward (in one of those perverse sort of ways) to seeing the damage! Enjoying this build thread.

Can you say a little bit about why you covered up the fins with the branded decoration? It seems like it would negate some of the heat rejection gains? Beautiful and inspiring build, BTW!
