Exactly this! I have never understood why people replace the whole wiper blade at all, when the rubber inserts are all that wears. Then there's the people who replace the whole blade with an aftermarket blade, guarantying that they will have to buy a whole new set of aftermarket blades when the rubber wears out. It's just good money after bad. Plus, the aftermarket blades never seat ideally on the windshield like the OEM blades do.
My 4Runner was just over a year old when I bought it used, and the previous owner had already swapped out the amazing OEM blades for some junk aftermarket ones, which weren't doing the job. I had to buy new OEM blades.

Bought through a local dealer, cost me $20/ea for the blades with fresh rubber, looks like I can get replacement rubber for about $8/ea.
No need to buy the entire blade, just replace the OEM rubber. See below:
It likely does not matter but Toyota has a new front right rubber that supersedes the one you noted: 85214-53090
100% with you on that. I was driving down the road the other day and was pissed at how shitty my wipers were, it wasn't until I got out to look and find that the previous owner must have swapped out the OEM blades completely. After some quick forum searches I knew I'd be going back to OEM. Luckily they left the rear alone so I just swapped the rubber.

Toyota has changed the part numbers for the wiper inserts twice now. It’s hard to keep up. It seems some online stores will sell the whole blades but not inserts.
I think I got them last time at Conicelli.

Ground the pinch weld down more. Painted the lower portion of the fender flair and secured it with a zip tie since the oem retainers failed.

Yeah, I really gotta back you up on this one. I don't have guns myself, but I have a healthy respect for them. I already work with enough dangerous stuff, and I know that if I was drinking and working, myself and possibly other people would be dead by now. I don't want guns, and even if I did, I don't need to be drinking and shooting.

I took photos of my modifications for you guys
This is my 1st post and I’m recovering from Covid. Please be kind.
Today I took pictures of my simple modifications of a 2012 Limited 4Runner to share with you.
1. Replaced 16 lights with LED’s. I did not do the outside mirrors because I heard it is difficult and you might break them.
2. I call these phone catchers.
3. Glove box spacers. I had extras at work. They are plastic and easy to cut.
4. Put spacers in rear springs. Towing a 5000 lb boat, 7 passengers and stuff equals a GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of 6300 lbs. She sags no more.
5. Hung shovel, flashlight, and fire extinguisher. 1st aid kit and miscellaneous ammo box install.
6. Largest tires installed for a 2012 limited 4Runner. P275/55R20’s and chrome valve stem caps plus new mud flaps and a chrome muffler extension.
7. Under the hood LED light with a switch and a tool box. I saw wasted space next to the engine and had to put something there. My son ate this protein stuff that came in this big container and it fit snuggly. There was a bolt at the bottom that I undid drilled a hole in the bottom of the container and screwed it in place.
8. The dealer recoded my fob so when i hold down the unlock button all the windows including the sun roof go down. The rear hatch does not tho?
9. Found cheap crossbars for the roof rack on Amazon. I made a car top carrier out of 3 milk crates hose clamped (8) together.

Finally installed my DuroBumps up front, and Overland Custom Design sway bar end links also up front. The quality on the sway bar end links is fantastic, heavy duty and adjustable. But looking at my sway bar i'm thinking I may need to do a relocation a bit more forward to really clear the coilovers.

Quick little (super easy) mod this afternoon while the weather here in MA was still nice.
Desert Does It - Seat Jackers
4Runner seats felt like a definite upgrade from years in the FJ but I still ended up getting foot/leg pain on long drives. 6' 2" avid runner, hiker and ex - mountain biker. Never any pain being active only when sitting in certain positions after.
Installed and slightly re-adjusted seat settings. Feels good, gives a slightly higher sitting position giving the ability to really push up the thigh support.
Will update after a few long drives.

watch the r4t video on the mirror install, really easy, agree its scary. if your replacing them, dont worry about breaking the old ones. put a bit of oil or grease on the tabs of the new ones, they snap on easier. ive done 2 4r's. beside a headlight upgrade, best thing you can do is the ct mirrors. no more blind spot.

You are right, I get what you're saying. If you're happy with the performance of the bosch, great. A lot of folks on here agree that the OEMs work great in all weather, last longer than other options and prefer them. That and you're only throwing out small rubber strips every couple of years vs throwing out entire blade assemblies.

$8.99 for refill or $8.99 for full replacement.
Either way ... stock or aftermarket. They usually dont last me a year
