4 Wheel Drive Not Working

Hey guys,

I had my '02 4Runner lifted and now the 4 Wheel Drive will not work. Is it possible these 2 things are connected?

TIA

Matt

Hello Fellow 3rd gen owners I just came home and realized something was leaking from the bottom of my 3rd gen 4runner and I went to the nearest mechanic shop and showed them and they said that its leaking from the transmission cooler lines and they listed a lot of money to do the work can somebody tell me where I can find them online and I can do the work myself and show some images on it also are they supposed to be rubber or metal

If you want OEM replacement trans cooler hoses, go to your local Toyota dealer parts department and order them. If you're ok with aftermarket, go buy some 3/8" transmission hose at an auto parts store. They sell it by the foot so measure what you need and have them cut you off a section.

Just a little Raptor Light Action.

My passenger side window keeps getting stuck open about 40% of the time. It works at random times. Sometimes I need to hold down the button for a few seconds before it starts rolling if it does at all. Usually I just wait like 5 minutes and try again and it will work randomly. It's not the switch since it doesn't respond on the passenger door either. Only info I have found is regarding the rear window.

Sounds like the window motor is getting weak. You can either replace the window regulator/motor assembly or try lubing the window tracks with silicone spray.

Nice to get some objectivity into the LBJ question. Thanks Tim and Sean.

Thanks for another installment, TTTMAS! Now I want to revisit my plumbing job and add some 3/4" sleeves to some vulnerable sections of my hoses. I also used a Magnefine and I'm glad to hear they are rated for 30k. My tranny has been running 'too cool' for my taste all winter (since adding fairly small Tru-cool LPD that is supposed to be self-regulating based on viscosity -in series- last summer) and just hope it gets back to normal as the weather warms up. I'm currently seeing only 120s around town and lucky to reach 150 at 65 mph. Seems backwards. On the flipside, I was seeing 185 at maximum strain climbing trails in 100+ degree summer weather after installing the cooler so I'm happy with that. Before the cooler I got it up to 249 degrees and couldn't live with that! Trans temp fluctuations on these rigs are still kind of mysterious to me as they rise and drop under sometimes illogical circumstances. Maybe the data I'm getting from the Ultra gauge is suspect and an inline t-junction sensor would tell a different story but I've got too many other things to do.....

I wouldn’t be worried about transmission temps in the 120-130 range. The only downside to colder transmission fluid is the thicker viscosity will cause more resistance and parasitic loss of power in the transmission resulting in lower fuel economy.

This is why the trans fluid runs through the rad, to help being it up to operating temperature with the engine.
