So, my valve cover gaskets were leaky when I got the truck a year ago. Snugged up and it was acceptable. Two weeks ago I installed spark plugs and noticed the passenger side in particular had gotten worse. Snugged em up again, but couldn't hit that far back bolt very well because of it being hard to access. I guess I over-snugged it regardless.
Truck has been smoking under the hood and sucks to drive due to smell, so I ordered the gasket and all associated parts for a full job and decided to yank them today (only got pass side off). The good news is that it's pretty clean in there for 250k miles.
The bad news is there's a significant crack, right where that back bolt goes. The crack also extends in to the ridges where the gasket sits. Would you JB weld it, or replace it - assuming that the ridge/crack where the gasket sits would always be problematic. I guess the answer may seem obvious but just wondering if any of you have experienced the same and remedied with JB
