I did, sort of. Don't know if all the years are the same but my owner's manual called for 80W-90. There's can't be that much of a difference between 80W-90 and 75W-90 so I understand why some are just using 75W-90 in everything since the transfer case and front diff call for 75W-90.
My manual actually said to use straight 90W for temps above 0 degrees F and use 80W-90 for temps below 0 degrees F. I couldn't find straight 90W, so I just got some 80W-90 and called it good.

I've always ran Mobil 1 75W90 in everything. 205K miles no issues.

Hi Guys,
I hope to take delivery of my new to me Surf and would like to do a full fluid change out.
There are only two products available to me immediately.
Castrol and Fuchs.
I eventually will go fully synthetic when I can find the right stuff probably out of country, but for now which brand would you guys suggest/recommend please.

Fuchs does not exist in the USA as far as I know; I've used the USA Castrol 80W-90 Gear lube and nothing bad happened. The Castrol product in your area may or may not be the same product. Beware of resealable containers containing used or counterfeit product.

Just used the same on mine all around. No issues. Old fluid looked ****ing disgusting. Glad I did it when I did...

Yep, and this is with a pretty simple but decent quality full synthetic 75W90 made by "Boss Lubricants" which is a local company. I got it for 1/3 the price (with corporate discount) of what a typical brand name product would be. That's why I sometimes doubt if those specialty "boutique" synthetic brands are really necessary for something as simple as a transfer case or differential.
I do run a premium Redline MT-90 transmission fluid though.

I'd consider the crown wheel, pinion and bearings wearable items, they even have a run in period!
My only thought was that you meant the tube part itself, but that shares oil with the above mentioned, so regarding oil colour is irrelevant!
Eaton Recommend Mineral oil for use with Truetrac diffs... Toyota recommend Semi synth from memory. I can't remember what the Yukon recommendation was.

Certainly those items will wear...in the same way that seats wear, or steering wheel would wear; not necessarily an item designed to wear. The r+p certainly aren't items that one would change at regular intervals like brake pads. That is what I meant by wear item, apologies for lack of clarification.

In regards to the breather valve, I just bought a new oem breather and I tested it by blowing through it. A new or correctly functioning breater will only allow air to escape and will NOT allow air into the diff., which is good to know. I decided to replace mine at 295,000 miles because I recently replaced my rear bearings and seals and wanted to make sure everything stays perfect. Also, the breather costs less than $7!
