How many of you replaced other suspension parts with LBJ replacement?

Hello everyone! I just wanted to get a quick poll for how many of you replaced other suspension parts such as outer/inner tie rods, upper ball joints etc.. whenever you replaced the lower ball joints?

Thank you everyone!

Not by choice, but I ended up replacing outer tie rod ends. The threaded part that goes through the LBJ was rusted on so bad, the threads were crushed when I used the tool to free it. I went to new UCA, so UBJ were replaced by uniballs.

I replaced a lot of stuff when I did LBJ's. Mainly needed to do the steering rack, so I did steering rack, rack bushings, ITRE, OTRE, LBJ, LCA bushings, alignment cams, coilover rebuild, Light Racing control arms, and stainless brake lines all at once. It was a hell of a project lol. Also painted the frame while everything was out

Wow! No kidding that would be a project. Well your truck should have a solid front end!

Anybody else?

I've been slowly refreshing all the suspension parts starting with LBJs, then LCA bushings, sway bar bushings, steering rack bushings. Next on my list are UCA/UBJs and OTRE/ITREs when due.

Would be nice to do all at once but it's my DD so I have to do things in stages without downtime.

I hear that. In a situation like this I could see a lifetime alignment being worth it.

Sadly, most shops offering lifetime alignment won't do alignments after you do suspension work - it's usually in their fine print that if someone other than them disturbs the alignment their warranty is void; same with lifted vehicles. Usually

I did LBJs, inner tie rods & shocks/struts/coils at the same time then got it aligned.

6 months later my steering rack failed, so put that on (new inners at the same time) and newer UBJs had to get it aligned again.

If you need the parts, replace them. Otherwise just do the LBJ's. They will screw up your alignment big time though, my tires squealed the whole time to the shop!

I did OTE's when I changed the LBJ's. They were just too far gone for me to want to keep driving it like that. I only had the r
Runner 1 week when I did the LBJ's, so I had no idea the OTE's were that worn because the truck actually drove pretty decent.

Front coil-overs, LCA bushings, Lower ball joints, Sway bar endlinks, UCA bushings, upper control arms, upper ball joints,
Steering rack bushings, OTREs, CV boots, Rear upper and lower control arms and bushings, Panhard bar and bushings, Rear springs, Rear shocks, Rear brake line.

All in the same go. Took me three eight hour days, and then some. Juice is absolutely worth the squeeze.

I also did the same stuff (different parts) but I included the front bearings, drilled/re-threaded the trans dip-stick the PO snapped off.

I did otres, lbjs and bolts. I'm preparing to do new oem rack, lca bushings, ubjs, bearings, ss brake lines and new lbj bolts on same 2year old lbjs. I'll re use the otres as well.

I had to have many things changed out also since no maint. was done prior to me - that we could detect..everything was rusted together.
so - LBJ, UBJ, Front Strut assembly, tie rods, sway bar links, stabilizer bar, brake lines, rear shocks. I know I need rear coils now and more to come. Ahh summer get here!
at least now the cds in the factory radio don't skip as much when I hit potholes.
drives better over all.:lookout:
