Rock Sliders - Tucked in look? Pics Please

I'm starting to look around for a set of rock sliders. There's a lot of good options out there. I've noticed some sets have a much more tucked in look. Is this from that particular brand or is that the angle its welded at?

I much prefer this look over the flat. I would love to see some pics these that have that look along with the brand you went with.

I highly recommend the Stubbs Welding HD-SKO:

I like those sliders and your truck looks great, but to me those look more flat? I'm looking for the ones that are more angled up, that's what I mean by "tucked in"

I've got a 1" body lift and I intentionally spaced them a little farther down. This is what the angle looks like off the vehicle.

The HD-SKO sliders that Stubbs makes are so excellent. I have them and I welded them as close to the body as possible.

I'd even be willing to bet he could put a custom angle on them for you, however what you need to remember is that you still need to open your doors.

As you can see, the angle which you look view them from can impact how low profile they look.

I know @rideexilex has sliders that his rear doors just barely clear, I'm talking like 1/8th inch. I'll see if I can find a picture of his, I'm not sure of the brand.

Any sliders that are weld on will have more initial adjust-ability than any bolt on option.

Also, steezemcqueen has some that are like rideexileex and I do have a picture of them:

He does offer these in different angles. I think mine are the 7.5* slant.

Sliders need to protrude a certain amount to um, well... slide?

He offers them in 7.5* & 15* angles. You can ask to have the slider legs not welded to the main portion of the sliders and weld them on yourself to get the exact angle you want. Still have to make sure they'll clear your doors. For weld on sliders I think Stubbs are the best.

keep in mind having the sliders w/ kick out that sticks out a bit also serves the purpose of pushing the truck away from a rock that may catch the side of the body. just a thought

so I get the tucked in look with sliders but if you are gonna use your 4runner you are gonna want them out far enough to do some good, at least to the plane of your doors, tucked in too far you can't use them to pivot off obstacles like trees and rocks,

a set of 4xinnovations sliders with kick out saved my bacon with my old 81 trekker

when i was stuck between a rock and hard place you can see the kick out down here

Definitely - check 1:20 of this video

Very well... they do provide protection as well, but not as much.
Observation: That guy did catch the first part of the rock at his front door.. what would have happened if that was at the very end of his back door... maybe not as much... Well his tires stick out and are big enough that it would just roll over that rock either way.

BTW how's that rear bumper design coming along?

What are you looking at for weight?

BTW sorry to hijack thread.

hahaha; sorry not sorry. - besides, that video is awesome and a great illustration of why you'd want a slider that protrudes a bit. :)

(this swingout thing has been challenging.)

weight as delivered? or with an overbuilt hitch?

I guess I took that first comment wrong. Yes a great illustration!
Weight as in, how much will it add the rear of my vehicle. Not sure exactly what you meant by overbuilt hitch. I’ve been looking and some fabricators have hybrid styles that I’d assume are a bit lighter than a plate style.

Respectfully disagree....

The problem with having bars that stick really far out is the leverage they create. Yes, that can be overcome by reinforcing the frame (as one should do anyway)...but IMO, the more they stick out.....the more likely you are to hang up on them.

I always build mine tucked in pretty tight.....yes, you have to be more careful and IMO, full width axles help keep the body out of the rocks more....which is why this project will be getting 67" WMF to WMF axles eventually.

Here's a pic of my sliders....two tubes, 5 legs to the frame...you can hardly tell they're there.
