The way I painted them was quite simple. Bought two cans of Duplicolor Charcoal Metallic a can of clear and some red scotch brite pads.

1. Prep Prep Prep- I degreased with rim cleaner and then simple green. Then scuffed them up with the red scotch brite pads. It takes awhile but the result is worth it. After that cleaned with water and then brake cleaner to get everything off.

2. Got them up to room temp and blew them off with air then painted them with about 4 coats with about 7-10 min apart. I let that set up for about 15 min and then put about 3 light coats of clear on.

Then I let them sit in the heated garage at work for about 2 weeks to set up.

I got them on and no chips on the rims

I would say prep would be the most important.

haha! How about this. You can buy my old factory rims and you can try out your painting skills. Ha ha. Yes I'm very happy how the wheels turned out.

I guess that was my way of saying I'm very happy with how they turned out as well! Good job...one day I'll find a set of LC wheels...

You can air down a skinny tire to make it wide, but you can't make a wide tire skinny from filling it with air. And skinny tires are superior in most offroad applications.

just one Question. i doing my wheels black. I already did my prep. (really good) So i wanted to know if i can use Duplicolor engine enamel if i gonna use oven to bake @ 100 degrees for about 1hr in order too cure. What about VHT capiler paint (900 degrees heat rest.) can i use that too?

How are skinny tires superior in offroad conditions? And also, the benefit of starting out with a wider tire before airing down is simply that the tire is wider already. No need to air down (as much) as you would have to do with a "skinny" tire. Airing down too much increases the chance of sloppy handing as well as promotes premature tread wear along with exposing more sidewall to sharp objects
