Longgevity of the 4.7 V8?

Have an opportunity to grab a mint black on black/gray Sport V8 4x4 and I am thinking about dumping my 5th GEN for it. 5th GEN is great but too pretty and I am sick of making car payments. The rig I am looking at has 103k on the odo and the owner (original) has all service records.... can I expect to get at least 200k on this platform? Thanks in advance for your input

With good maintenance, yes, the 2uzfe can last way past that. Has the timing belt been done, first concern?
 
Mine has 147k no issues, my dads has 120+, my moms has 110+. My roommates dads has 160+. I drove a truck at work that had 290k on it. They last! I think it's one of the best motors with great power and phenomenal longevity.
 
Make the swap. I can't say enough about the 4th gens with the v8's. Build quality is second to none and they last many, many years. You will be happy so long as you obviously sit comfortably in it because it doesn't have as much headroom as the 5th.

mine has 168k just do timing belt and you good
 
I've bought a dozen LX470's with 250-350k miles. And that is why I bought a t4r with 102k miles a few weeks back. So yes, they go long and they go strong.
 
Yes, mine has 95K+ and going strong. only major work was replaced the radiator and about to replace the front wheel bearings. Love it, has right amount of power and fuel eco.

I just made a 5K trip with mine from Fairbanks Alaska to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and averaged 21 mpg and no issues at all. Love driving the 4runner
 
I honestly love my 4th gen and V8, its got 103k on it and runs like a champ, hell in january I did a recovery in the snow for two members with a 3rd gen & 2nd gen daisy chained to my rear hitch and yanked them both in one shot no problem. Engine's been running happily with no issues and just finished pushing it from Bay Area to San Diego in under 6 hours over the Grapevine with barely a whimper or a flicker of the temp gauge.

Toyota built the 2UZ-FE series SPECIFICALLY for low range RPM and truck use in their Land Cruisers, Sequoias, and Tundras; so you take care of them and they'll be as bulletproof as the ol' 3.4L!

I like the the 5th gen exterior styling, but the interior is not as comfortable as my 4th and the lack of the 1UR-FE (4.6L V8) drove me away from them.
 
There's a guy on high MPG's thread with a 4th gen T4R with 500k on his! Encouraging to us as we have an '05 V8 4WD. Take care of it and will last with regular maintenance of course. ;)

Spot on. I love this V8, smooth, powerful, reliable. The only grip I've had about my 4th gen is the low roof line.
 
A non Toyota mechanic i know says the 4.7 is nearly bullet proof and probably one of the best engines ever built. His advise convinced me to get the V8 over the V6.
 
Between now and next spring I plan to pickup another 05-09 v8 for my older son when my younger son inherits his 99 Pathfinder.

Mostly for safety reasons since these trucks do well in accidents and he commutes to college 60 minutes daily on a fast parkway. The resale value is also a huge plus as well as the great reliability.

I don't are about the gas mileage.
 
2003 Toyota 4Runner 4456 Limited Pretty good looking truck, but black gets hot and is hard to care for.

2007 Toyota 4Runner Newer, few more miles, But furthur away in Hiram, Georgia

2006 Toyota 4 Runner V8 4X4 Very clean looking, newer. Limited so a but more money.

2003 Toyota 4Runner Up there in miles, few dings and spots on the rear bumper, still an ok contender if you like those rims.

These are just a few options. I don't know how close they are to you but I really like that limited, but black is also still very hard to keep clean and gets very got in the summer.
