Got my little tool stowaway finished today. Nothing fancy.. could have taken more time but I think it’ll work for the time being.. didn’t want to make it too permanent in case I really hate it in actual use.. I’d have to pull everything off of the top shelf to get access to the tools and then put them back more or less how I found them instead of throwing them into a bag.. so we’ll see. Like the idea, but maybe it’s only best in theory not practice lol.
I’ll have a roll up box wrench organizer that will go between the backseat and the drawer system too.

So a quick update on my wheel balancing situation... I'm ready to get new tires and go to 37's now. lol
I installed 12 oz of beads into all 4 tires. I "THINK" I made the mistake of pulling off all the original wheel weights. In order to remedy the situation, I bought some 1/4oz weights from amazon and spent some time trying to re-install some weight where I could see the old tape still. That did not seem to correct any balancing at all.. adding a bit more weights in places made it worse, now I am back to pulling all the weights from the wheels up front.
It's not super terrible, but I have a vibration that comes and goes and its kind of driving me nuts... I feel like I definitely wasted hours of work and $100 bucks with the beads since the balance isn't any better than it was with the regular wheel weights that were on there, not any worse. So anyhow.. I'm just lead to believe that these wildpeaks don't balance out too well once you get some off road miles on them.. which I did read before getting them that folks were having issues with.. who knows.

Annddd the last update i'll probably make on the balancing situation.. after I posted the previous update I had to take the rig for some errands, and the steering wheel shake just got on my nerves really bad. I was feeling it at 45mph.
Got the rig home and decided to rotate my tires front to back. Luckily, this resolved the steering wheel shake up front. I obviously still feel a bit of a vibration that comes and goes from the rear, but that is much more acceptable to me. Progress has been made.
The rear set of tires included 1 brand new spare that I put on after my wheel-off incident, so I'm assuming it's just significantly better balanced along with the other rear tire that was also in better shape than the 2 front ones. I'll drive it around as it for now and see what happens. But log story short... though balance beads seem to work for some folks, I think my wheel/tire combination is just too far out of balance (as signified by the amount of 1/4, 1/2 and 1 oz weight combination i've pulled off from the previous balance) to work properly... I have 18oz of beads in all 4 tires and am not willing to keep experimenting with additional weights.. they get pricey and too time consuming, and not to mention.. I'm almost double the recommended weight from counteract's spreadsheet lol.

Many moons ago, I worked at an off-road shop that also sold tires. We definitely had our fair share of difficult tires to balance. We tried those balance beads but they were very hit or miss, mostly miss.

KO2s I just bought late last year, had one tire that needed twice the weight as the others. The tech said the KO2 is one of the worst for balancing. He got it done but recommended not putting it on the front lol.
So far I've pushed it over 80, and it hasn't caused any vibrations, but I may buy a single one day, and make the bad one a spare so I don't have to deal with it when it's time for rotating.
BFG changed the compound last year so I wonder how consistent they are in the manufacturing.
Definitely frustrating having vibs in the steering wheel.....
Hope it works out for you.

Yea.. I'm running my spare tire now, which prior to my wheel-off experience has been mounted on the tire carrier (brand new wheel and brand new tire) and never used... getting it balanced to put into rotation I can say with confidence that it was one of the worst out-of-balance combos I've had.. there were quite a few 1/4 oz weights (probably a good 2 strips worth) along with some 1/2oz spots, including 1x 1oz spot lol. So I'm sure a lot of what I'm feeling has to do with that.. coupled with some off-road trips that resulted in some missing chunks of tire. It's a super annoying feeling.. but at least I feel like I got the 2 best balanced wheels up front where the steering wheel shake is minimized.
I'm really kicking myself for pulling all the weights off from the previous balance while inserting the balance beads prior to test driving... I feel like I would have probably been, at the very least, no worse off than I started prior to the beads, or best case, would have solved whatever small amount of vibration would come and go..
I'm considering one final ditch effort of taking it to a different tire shop to do a road-force balance to see if it gets me any closer.. and if not.. i'm just going to send it as is... just hate the thought of unnecessary vibration expediting the wear on new wheel bearings and my lc200 steering heim joints.
If all else fails.. who knows, maybe i'll just go ahead and step up to a nice 37" tire

BFG's are notoriously difficult to balance and sometimes out-of-round. At least that's how it used to be, not sure about nowadays but I'm about to find out. I just put a new set of KO2's on the Tundra. So far, they're very smooth but I haven't had them past 60 mph yet. Many moons ago I went through around 10 BFG's before I found a good matched, non-out-of-round set to run on a truck I had. That's when I left the BFG fan club, until this week.
Toyota wheels are also notoriously hard to balance and this platform just seems to amplify an out of balance tire/wheel combo.

My wildpeaks i'm running now were supposedly very crappy to balance, when the wheels/tires were brand new, i left the tire shop and was amazed that everything felt really smooth. But I didn't realize just how much weight was on them, and also didn't take much to get them out of balance after a couple of rock crawling sections on the trails..
Good input on the K02's.. I thought they were going to be a better choice but guess not. Wonder how the nitto ridge grapplers do for balancing... any suggestions for a decent tire in the future? Not that I'm thrilled to be spending $2200-2600 bucks on tires ... lol

For what its worth, the Coopers I've had over the years didn't seem to have too many balancing issues.
The 4th gen had KO2s when I bought it, and I like the C rated side wall for airing down and have a more forgiving ride when I'm doing 50 mph in the whoops lol.
So I went with the KO2s again, might be a mistake, but I'll have to live with it.

All my tires have balanced well, by that I mean the shop always tells me they couldn't get them to balance but I've never noticed any road vibrations.
33" Duratracs
35" Hankook MT
37" KM3
On SCS wheels if that matters.

I know this isn't the classifieds section, but I will have a set of these Centramatic Tire Balancers for sale next week most likely if you are interested.
Tire Balancers, Tire Balancing, Wheel Balancer and Wheel Balancing from Centramatic
They require wheel spacers, but work fine on 6 lug Toyotas even though they don't make a product specific to our vehicles. I have Spidertrax that I'll likely be selling as well if you aren't already running them.
I bought a set of lightly used 35x12.50x17 Firestone Destination MT2s a few years ago from a friend, and had a hard time getting them to balance with wheel weights or balance beads. After a recommendation from a Tacoma guy on 37s at Firestone, I tired the Centramatic Tire Balancers and they worked well. The tires are for sale too:
REDUCED!!!!! 35x12.50R17 Firestone Destination MT2s For Sale - auto...
I just ordered a set of 35x11.50x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers for a narrower stance and less rubbing. So I plan to run those with no spacers and hopefully standard wheel weights. Let me know if you or anyone else is interested.

I have heavily considered going to a "skinny" 35 as well from the 12.5's I'm running now... and will likely go that route if I am still on 35's.. if I step up to 37's i'll be sticking to the available 12.5" ..
as far as the centramatic balancers.. i'll have to let you know.. first time i've heard of these.. curious to know how they work.. Im running a 1" spacer on all 4 corners right now as well so spacer isnt an issue.

I have the kenda klever 35x10.5 and got them balanced at walmart perfect on the first shot. Had them up to 100mph without issues lol, so I'd say they're probably on the easier side to balance

Oh man.. you're running a skinny skinny... I didn't even realize that you could get a 35 in a 10.5, but I did only look at the nitto grapplers.. I'm seriously considering coming down in width... so much added weight for minimal (if any) benefit since I rarely even see offroad time lol .
I will say that the wheels probably have quite a lot to do with it as well.. I'm running a cheap american racing wheel that probably isn't the greatest to balance with even without a tire lol.
