Any way to add remote start feature to OEM key fob?

I have Compustar 4202S installed on my 4runner. It came with its own remote start controller. I heard we can use Techstream to program OEM key to add remote start feature with Compustar unit, Is that true?

I also have a compustar unit and I believe it can be done by the experienced installer. The other thing I believe is that it would only be capable of operation the approximate distance your key/fob works to lock your doors. If that is the case it would be as useless as the OEM remote start.
 
I have a compustar system as well that works with the factory for but the range is poor.

My Compustar system is also configured to start with the OEM fob lock x3. I also have drone mobile so we usually just use that instead, no range limitations and we get a start conformation.
 
I got Viper RS installed today, with the LCD remote control. 3 different ways to start the car.

1. LCD Remote
2. Viper App via Bluetooth
3. Factory remote - press lock three times.

Love the unit so far. It does what I need it to go. Start the car, lock and unlock. For the price, can't beat it!
 
remote start function

i ordered a 2018 trd pro 4runner. when I get it will the factory remote start it if I push lock 3 times? or do I need something else added or programmed in for a dealer fee?

Remote start is not a standard function in the 4r trdp. It will either need to be dealer installed or third-party installed. I recommend third-party install via a compustar remote start kit. It will allow you to remote start via oem key fob or the compustar remote. The range of remote start on the oem key fob is the same as the range of unlocking doors - approx 150 feet. The range of the compustar remote will be on the antenna installed and the remote. For example - I have the compustar t11 remote with the compatible antenna that has 3-mile (theoretical) range.
 
whats the price in Canadian of the compustar kit? And will it void warranty. I have a trd pro so it has a key no push button start.Dealer told me third party installations can sometimes make Toyota warranty void
 
I just bought my very first 2018 4runner last wk... I didn't get remote start cause toyota told me they can't install it in key fob.... so who can install it in OEM key fob??
 
I just picked up my 2018 4runner and toyota said they can't install it in factory key fob... so who can?? If others can why can't toyota??
