Has anyone changed the interior colors of headliner and top trim panels?

I'd like to go black or a darker shade of gray/grey.

From more recent Toyota vehicles I have, I know the headliners are not prone to falling like the days of yore, hence why I am hesitant on reupholstery and would rather go a dye job.

The fabric is easy, but looking for product recommendations/photos.
Also, painting the plastic trim could scratch even with the rattle cans of plastic sprays/primers, and I am NOT looking for that.

Black Rit Dye.

It will dye the gray plastic black and never come off.

Watch youtube videos on the stuff.

Its cheap to obtain too.

For OP - I agree rit dye should work. I would love for my headliner to be black. There are a bunch of dirt spots on mine that I am too lazy to clean lol.
 
We are not your wife or significant other, you don’t have to try to convince us that you’re doing this to “keep the headliner from failing,” which will NEVER EVER happen given how much abuse I have thrown at mine and what my dog has done to it.

He likes to stand in the back and his head and tail are constantly bashing against it.

The only thing I can think of that is unappealing about the headliner is the texture of the material.

Come to think of it, I can’t remember a car made in the last 10 to 15 years that has the jacked up saggy ghetto ass headliner issues you used to see all the time in 1980s American shitwagons.

Hood glare horrible especially when wheeling = bedlined

Front number ripped off = bedlined

Rear spoiler paint damage from tarp = bedlined

Rear bumper repeatedly ripped off = bedlined

You want to talk about waste of time we can looks at all your salty ass comments in this forum cup cake.
 
I dont know Black Rit Dye how it works. You suppose to soak in water with Dye?

Dupon color has fabric paint, I think that's easier then Dye if you have to soak in water.

You should just ban this habitual instigator. Grip here said it himself he just does it for the laughs. Which is cute because he doesn’t do it in any of the local Facebook groups because it’s got his real name and pictures on the account.

It’s not hard to be civil but it takes effort to constantly bring negativity to the forum. This guy clearly has nothing better to do with his time so maybe it’s time he finds another forum to play internet badass on.

Sorry for hijacking the tread op. Don’t let dingus misrepresent my statements. It would look dope but unless I really stained my headliner I wouldn’t see the effort as time well spent. A lot of labor to do it right. Also seems like a good way to introduce new creaks and rattles to the interior.

But, if you commit make a thread so I can get jealous.
 
Just occurred to me if you had to get under the headliner for something else... I would see much greater value in this mod. I would really like to see someone Guinea pig this.
 
Mutant's comment about introducing new creeks and rattles struck a chord... Nearly every plastic cover I've pulled off once or twice never seems to fully seat the way it used to and I hear the rattles. I'm sure there are ways to remedy this but I'm not sure how avoidable it is.

Also, be prepared to break clips here and there.
