How to change floor and trunk of 4runner to rubber-type material (Like the FJ's)?

I'd say any 1/8 rubber is going to suffice, easily trimmed, flexible.
I think the biggest fly in the ointment will be cleaning off the old glue, and contact cementing down the new.
If I find any products for the running I'll post them here.:thumb3:

For cleaning off old glue use 3M General Purpose adhesive remover.

I did a herculiner bedliner in my 3rd gen. I took out the seats, did the liner and put everything back in one day. I have no idea how the 5th gen is under the carpet but the 3rd gen's carpet came out very easily. Also, there were drain plugs already in the floor.

The carpet is just sitting in there and not glued down.Kind of just tucks under the plastic . I don't see a problem putting rubber down back. There is a rib going across on the floor that you need to put a piece of plywood down first to make it level.

I don't know how big of a project you'd like to take on, but consider this. Rubber matting would be the easiest thing to find, but you could get some larger sheets of diamond plate-style matting (non-rubber) from a company like Wearwell Industrial matting.
I'm not saying this the best alternative, but here is an option ... Mats | Mat | Matting | Anti-fatigue Mats | Antifatigue Mats |Anti-fatigue Matting | Antifatigue Matting | Ergonomic Flooring | Runner Matting | Ergonomic Mats | Ergonomic Matting
It is made from a flexible PVC and will accept adhesives, but you will not be able to plasti-weld it. Other materials can be welded to custom fit corners, etc.
Also, consider removable Christmas tree pins/clips for the project. Screw-Type Tufloks
I have a herculined jeep. There is no way I would consider it for my 4R, not unless it was a dedicated offroader. Even then, I would rather have a rhino liner. It is so much better.

A spray in bed liner like Herculiner would do the trick, but in the past when people have done it, it can get very hot in some places.

^^^^^I thought this was cool, but I wanted a less permanent solution. So, I bought some by-the-foot black rubber flooring material from Home Depot and cut it to fit the seatbacks. Then, I attached it using "industrial-strength" velcro. It holds really well, but it's not as durable as the bedliner....doesn't look as well-finished either.
