I've always though my mechanic was a pretty decent guy. I just paid $750 to put in a new catalytic converter (which had to be rewelded because the old one had been stolen and a straight pipe welded in place) and a new radiator in my '87 4Runner. Parts were new.

Did I get jacked?

Yeah thats a bit too high. and btw wth is up with everyones cats being jacked? Why and how are people stealing 4runner cats?
 
I bought it last week and it had been stolen from the owner. It's pretty easy, just get down there with a sawzall and you have yourself about $200 in scrap platinum. You know how much crack a hobo can buy with that?!??! Happens to Tacomas even more.
 
When I did a rad on our 1990 4runner (V6), the Toyota rad cost $585, and it was self installation. ; ) I did a factory muffler a while back that was about $150 for the part, again, installed myself.

I didnt think of that part... yea if that price included the parts then u are good. And if u can scrap the cats for 200$ i wonder how much i can sell my old ones for.
 
Parts and labor (my mech shop charges $95 an hour), plus shop fees, disposal fees, taxes, haxmat disposal...et al. You were charged a reasonable amount for the amout of time, and effort.

Try and replace a Toyota radiator - quickly - ain't happening...LOL!
