There's a "Pay to Play" place midway between Beech Mountain and Boone,...but it appears you have to pay for a year's membership to use the trails and then $10 a day after the first day, it's called "Patriot Mountain Offroad Park", worth a call to check it out, I have heard great things about the park.

"WHAT IS PATRIOT MTN OFFROAD PARK LLC?
Patriot Mtn Offroad Park is a family owned and operated off-road facility. We are a private membership organization, meaning you must purchase a yearly membership in order to be part of. Trails are 7.5 miles and vary in grade, steepness, and elevation. Memberships are by the vehicle, not per person, passengers ride free. We have mountainous trails intended for shorter wheelbase 4wd vehicles, I.E. Jeeps, Land Rovers, Range Rovers, FJ's, Xterra's, Pathfinders, 4Runners, Blazers, Broncos, but can accommodate larger vehicles such as Ford trucks and Tacomas, Tundras, Titans, etc. as well as trailered rigs. Our trails are named for American icons and heroes such as Patton, Kyle, Hathcock, Reagan, Westmoreland, Daly, Hooker, Dolittle, Tuskegee (after the the Tuskegee pilots of WW2), Mast, Harris, Doss, Chapman, Wells, John Wayne, with more trails being added. Memberships are $30.00 per year, which includes first day of riding trails, exclusive primitive camping access, exclusive river access, and exclusive handgun range access. Once membership is paid in full, each visit is $10.00 per day. We 'give back' as well for our American servicemen, vets and LEO's (law enforcement officers) Active military and LEO's pay $20.00 per year membership Veterans pay $20.00 We also host 101 Wheeling classes and Winch & Recovery classes thru Morrison Outdoor Adventures. We also allow SxS's and UTV's (Side by sides), we do NOT allow ATV's or dirt bikes. Beginning New Years Day until July '19 we will also be holding a contest for groups and clubs "
