Posting Intervals is 2 minutes and Editing 15 minutes limit??

Posting Intervals is now 2 minutes!

Hey all,

In an attempt to limit the spammers, i have increased the interval for which you can post to 2 minutes. In other words, after posting a post, you have to wait 2 minutes before posting another post.

Sorry for this, but i don't want this forum to be flooded with spam before an admin or moderator can get to it.

Good Idea

First off, thank you for all you and the other mods and admins do. Hopefully this will stop some of the spammers. I doubt it will effect many normal users. Let me know if any assitance is needed.

It will also slow down some of the postwhores who are trying to catch up to me!

I agree with this move.
I noticed that there is also a 15 minute limit now on the time interval on editting a post. This may be more of an issue if you are trying to compose a writeup that will take several posts and might require some editting. Why was this done?

I don't know...to be honest. I see this limit on other forums...and then while going over the forum options to see if we can limit the spam, i found this 15 minute limit.

What do you guys think??

BTW, i changed the title of this forum to see if we can get more input to this 15 minute limit.

The 15 minute edit limit is alright I guess. It just helps out the OP when they have to make a new post, to cover whatever information they needed to edit. That way the thread by bumped to the top to get more attention and hopefully faster responses.

However, it also takes up space so it could go either way I guess?

As for the 2 minute wait on posting, I can live with that. Whatever it takes to help this site run smoothly :bigok:

cant we just get a fix on the spammers IP and send a bolt of gigahertz via skype and blow em out of the f'n cyberwater?

:iagree: I sometimes need to edit a post because of errors & I'm a spell check nazi.

The spammers IPs are as diverse as this forum!

In fact, in the past, when i try to ban their IPs, i also ban some of the members because the IPs are similar.

That's why I asked. Now, rather than a simple edit, I have to post again to fix an error. Does this make me a post-whore and is that such a bad thing? Can you lengthen the time limit to 1 hour?

I say NO 15 minute!! Just today I was having some host problems when posting pictures and couldn't get the pictures to show up. It would have been really nice to just go back and try it again rather than 3 completely new posts.
EDIT: Just saw it was moved to 1 hour. I guess I can deal with that! <--see Editing helps!! :lmao:
