Was searching for another article and happened to come upon this one - it's a few years old but I thought it was an interesting read:

It made me laugh because my richest friend drives a TLC as his daily driver because he says he doesn't like to flash his wealth. Apparently he must think that not everyone knows just how much a TLC costs these days

The article mentions how the author of the "Millionaire Next Door" bought, you guessed it, a T4R

I believe Bill Gates is still rocking a 1994 Honda Accord.

And a bunch of celebrities are rocking a Toyota Prius. They want to be low key & help w/ the environment.

Or you can be like Lindsay Lohan & crash (3) Mercedes-Benz SL65.

They're millionaires because Toyotas are more reliable other makes, so they spend less money dealing with unexpected repair bills.

Some people are rich because they spend wisely.

Bill Gates drives a Ford Focus, understandably, since MS Sync is available in a lot of Ford products. Linky

What billionaires drive, the article is a bit old though.

It doesn't matter how much money I make in the future, I would still drive a T4R. My dad won't even think of selling his 06 4Runner with 75K. He usually keeps a vehicle for 2-3 years because of high mileage but loves this truck too much.

Many of these people are rich because they know how to spend/save wisely. That starts with buying a Toyota that lasts forever.

I actually read "The Millionaire Mind" (same author as "The Millionaire Next Door") and that is part of the reason why I own a Toyota as well. No, not because I'm rich, but because of the high resale value and low cost of ownership. I'd rather spend my money on other things, not extravagant cars. Plus, I see a lot of people my age (early 30's) already trying to keep up with the Jones' by buying homes they can barely afford and driving expensive, luxury cars. The sad thing is they probably don't have a penny in the bank. I'll gladly stick with my Toyota.

I think people are starting to see luxury cars as a waste. Other than a small amount of prestige the cost to benefit ratio is way off.
