ARB fail - Copper line design

How many people experience the copper line getting destroyed by the ring gear? Seems like the clearance is so limited, then add some vibration and it seems like the thing doesn't have a chance of lasting. Once it's setup correctly, can one expect it to not be such an issue? Had mine...

Other solution for Frozen T Case Actuator?

Is it not possible to just remove the cover and take a screwdriver to gently move the gears and help it along, then bolt the cover back on? Seems like banging on the the cover is so indirect and it seems like taking the whole thing apart is overkill if it's just a little stuck (ie, worked...

Cool benefit of HCF found - anti-mouse properties!

This guy easily ate through the air filter then scratched and chewed and scratched and chewed but could not get through the HCF! Am I the first to document the anti-mouse properties of the HCF? Living in the country, I'm definitely not doing the HCF delete mod (or I guess I could put wire mesh...

    Which series G2 R&P for 4th gen 4runner?

G2 Gear & Axle (g2axle.com) is one of the companies that is closely associated with 4wheelparts (kinda like Procomp). Since 4wheelparts is a national company, these affiliated companies must make a killing since 4wheelparts heavily promotes them. For people in communities without many other 4x4...

    Which series G2 R&P for 4th gen 4runner?

East coast gear sounds like a good option. I could not believe how g2 and 4wheel parts had no answers. G2 starting saying 4th gen may have the 8.2" rear, how there's no way to know unless I open the rear end (and he was telling me how to measure it), how nothing is for sure unless I take my vin...

    Which series G2 R&P for 4th gen 4runner?

I spent a long time on the phone, because no one could tell me what G2 gears fit the rear axle on our 4th gen 4runner. Surely it can't be this complicated? I talked to 4wheel parts (national) x2, and 4wheel parts (local) x1, and G2 themselves x2, still no straight answers. It appears the...

    5th Gen 4Runner Brakes Upgrade (for 4th Gen 4Runner)

If I want to change out my SR5 dust shields to accomodate the 5th gen brake mod, should I get the 4th gen Sport dust shields or can I just get the 5th gen dust shields. I'm assuming 5th gen dust shields will fit, is it identical to the 4th gen Sport dust shields? I know most with SR5s just...

Lets see your Air compressor switches

This was a fun project. Wanted all the diff lock switches together including the center diff lock switch. Center diff lock switch is wired a little differently, got the momentary switch mounted but still haven't wired that one up yet. Pulled the cable off the back of the oem dash switch...

Public Service Announcement - ARB's new 6mm black line

So I just learned this today, maybe others know this but I'm spreading the word. ARB tech on the phone said about 2 months ago, they are changing all their air lines from their 5mm blue air lines to the newer 6mm black air lines. The new solenoids now have a black connector, not the orange one...

    V6 4th gen on 35s - Happy with your 4.56, 4.88 or 5.29s?

The only reason I bring up 5.29 is hearing those with 33" tires who enjoy 4.88s. But probably even with 35" tires 5.29 is overkill? The ability for low speed crawling and extra torque sounds great when 80% of my driving is off road, but I don't want a rig incapable of highway driving.

    V6 4th gen on 35s - Happy with your 4.56, 4.88 or 5.29s?

Thanks for the input. Seems many are happy with their 4.88s. Leaning towards that as of now. I guess 5.29 isn't too common?

    V6 4th gen on 35s - Happy with your 4.56, 4.88 or 5.29s?

Looking to regear. Seems like most with this setup are going with 4.88s. Anyone with 5.29s have input or anyone with 4.88s wish they went with 5.29s? Vehicle will be 10% hwy 10% city 80% off road. Eventho its mainly off road, I don't want it to be horrible on the hwy getting to the trails...

    Correcting Driver Side Lean

Btw, I believe the quote above "coilovers should not be used to fix body lean" is referring to the body leaning when turning corners, that's why they recommend sway bars. This is different than a sitting 4runner leaning to one side. Preload is meant to adjust for weight differences. For example...

    Grounding ideas to chasis/frame

Just curious what people have to say about the best way to ground to the frame/chassis in terms of the type of screw used. It seems that after time, a standard steel screw exposed to the elements (undercarriage etc) will rust/corrode, making it not the best conductor. How do people feel...

Body Mount Chop - Frame Symmetry R+L?

Just wondering in preparation for a body mount chop if everyone's distance from tire to body mount is the same R vs L. I find consistently my Left tire is closer to the body mount by 1/2" or more. No matter how I turn the wheel or after driving, no matter if I measure from wheel to body...
