Which series G2 R&P for 4th gen 4runner?

I spent a long time on the phone, because no one could tell me what G2 gears fit the rear axle on our 4th gen 4runner. Surely it can't be this complicated? I talked to 4wheel parts (national) x2, and 4wheel parts (local) x1, and G2 themselves x2, still no straight answers.

It appears the confusion is that for the 8" rear axle, the G2 applic guide only has an 8" 27 spline R&P for older toyotas (2-2043) and an 8" 29 spline R&P for newer but it says e-locker ONLY (2-2058). Therefore for the bulk of 4th gen 4runner owners without the e-locker, their application guide has nothing. On 1 call to G2, the guy said the older axle because they are used on all toyotas and I don't want the one made for e-lockers, on the other call to G2 the guy said the newer e-locker one is the correct one. Ultimately they both admitted they weren't sure and blamed Toyota for being so confusing.

Basically all 5 phone calls led to people acting like no 4th gen 4runner owner has ever put in a new R&P before. Surely people are ordering something, so what are they getting that works? The "e-locker only" 2-2058 or the older axle 2-2043? Am I wrong to assume the "e-locker only" version will still work on a non e-locker axle and it was just an oversight by G2 not to list an option for non e-lockers?

Maybe I'm missing something and there's another model number for us even though G2 said these were the only 2 options? Please share your wisdom! Thanks.

ECGS is the go-to. If these guys don't know how to sell you Toyota 8" gears they don't deserve your business.

East coast gear sounds like a good option. I could not believe how g2 and 4wheel parts had no answers. G2 starting saying 4th gen may have the 8.2" rear, how there's no way to know unless I open the rear end (and he was telling me how to measure it), how nothing is for sure unless I take my vin to the Toyota dealer. Cmon, guys, what the hell?! My conclusion is that the G2 application guide is garbage so G2 and 4wheelparts are only able to refer to this.

G2 Gear & Axle (g2axle.com) is one of the companies that is closely associated with 4wheelparts (kinda like Procomp). Since 4wheelparts is a national company, these affiliated companies must make a killing since 4wheelparts heavily promotes them. For people in communities without many other 4x4 store options 4wheelparts and their merchandise may be all they know. Luckily the internet helps level the playing field these days.
