    Front power window relay location?

Let me start by saying thank you to all who've offered help and tips to me so far. I'm finally getting the chance to dig into my '91 maintenance-wise and I'm loving it! Question: Passenger power window switch will roll window down, but up very slooowwly. The drivers side switch for the...

Interior lights "door" ciruit always has 12V

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think it's the door switches (but I will double check them). The reason I think this is because the courtesy lights which are on the two front doors (the red and white ones that illuminate near your feet) operate using the same door switches, and they work...

Interior lights "door" ciruit always has 12V

When I bought my '91 4Runner, I noticed the dome lights never came on unless switched to the on position...but...if you switch either the front or back dome light to the "door" mode, they never turn off. I'm wondering why is there always voltage to that circuit (even when all the doors are...

Changing Front Axles: What else should I do while I'm at it?

My CV boots are torn so I'm gonna swap out the front axles. I'm just curious if there are any good preventative maintenance items to take care of while the axles are out? Bushings maybe? Ideas? 1991, 22re, 4x4, 5spd, SR5, 202k mi.

    Vacuum in Fuel Tank. Problem?

Hmm... Thanks turboSR5, that's almost the exact same thing as my repair manual says too, only without the "unrestriced" part. I'm thinking I should look for another canister because like I said, when I blew shop air into port A and plugged port B, there was very little flow out of the drain...

    Vacuum in Fuel Tank. Problem?

Are you sure there should be good airflow through the canister? I wish I had some pressure guages, but I was blowing 90psi air in and getting a very light flow out. The canister was very restrictive in my opinion. Do you think that's not normal?...I wish I had something to compare it to...

    Vacuum in Fuel Tank. Problem?

I've looked into it a bit. I tested the fuel cap and it does allow air to come in if the vacuum is high enough, and I blew compressed air through the charcoal canister. I checked the gas cap using a small suction pump and the valve did open but I'm not sure at excactly how much vacuum. I checked...

    Vacuum in Fuel Tank. Problem?

Yeah, Bellingham is a great town. Being so outdoorsy though, 4Runners catch a pretty high dollar in the used market. I looked for quite a while before finding a 4x4 5sp with the 4-cyl. Couldn't be happier with it though...I'm jealous of your turbo 22re though... So, it has over 200k on the 22re...

    Vacuum in Fuel Tank. Problem?

I've noticed a significant hiss of vacuum as I remove the fuel cap from my '91 22re 4R. I would guess that it creates more vacuum the more fuel I burn, as i've noticed that when I run the tank very low it's worse. I've checked the fuel cap visually for a mis shapen seal or a crack/break of some...

Are the Heater Controls supposed to be illuminated?

1991 SR5. The heater controlls aren't lighted at night. Just curious if they are supposed to be? Don't want to get ahead of my self ripping the dash apart too many times. Thanks

    Windshield Washer Clean-Out

Ants sure are crafty little buggers. That's good to know about the filters at the nozzles too. One of my nozzles still has one weak jet, I'll pop it of and clean that too. I'm just so impressed that Toyota had the foresight to put in strainers and filters, now I'm starting to see why these have...

    Windshield Washer Clean-Out

The '91 SR5 I bought recently had very weak window washers up front. I started to disassemble the tank to get at the pumps and found lots of cardboard-like contaminants floating around in the bottle. When I saw that there was a suction strainer on the bottom (front) pump, I was yet again stoked...

    Strange Noise from DASH!?!?

I just finished lubricating the speedo cable on my 91 4x4 22RE w 200,000mi. It had gotten to the point where it was jumpy +- 5mph and squeeking/whirring at any speed. First I disconnected the cable from the transfer case and spun it a few times. I could feel the 'bumps' as it rotated. Then I...
