Sorry to disappoint but apparently the problem is nothing more than rats chewing up the wires and whatnot according to the mechanic. He had to rewire the wires and change the alternator. With more complications, my aftermarket cd player doesnt power up anymore. Now it makes a drilling noise...
My dad had my 4runner towed to a mechanic place before I could do anything. They told me the alternator is dead so now I'm just waiting to see what happens.
Sorry for asking so much questions. :sobbing: Where is the EFI fuse located? (no idea what EFI stands for or where it is)
Do you know why this happens? I thought this would be a simple jump and problem fixxed but nope. Its much more complicated. :bash:
Ok I just put in a brand new battery and the car started up just fine. There's still a problem though. The RPM will NOT go past 2k. I have no idea what is going on here.
Ok so I haven't driven my car for 2 months and when I went to start it up the battery died. I pull tried to jump the battery with my V6 van and try to start up the 4runner but its really weak. It only goes up to 2k RPM and dies soon after that. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Ok so I am going on a road trip pretty soon and I decided to get a navigation. This is an aftermarket navigation and I dont know too much about it. Its a garmin nuvi btw. Anyways, the only concern I have right now is how to mount the gps. How do you mount your GPS? I heard the window...
I have a 4th gen 4runner, 04 to be exact. I bought the car used to all I have is the owner's manual and I guess I dont have the handbooks that you were talking about. I was just looking for the 5000 miles part.
I know this thread is pretty old but I was looking in the manual and trying to look for the recommended oil change level and can't find where they say when you should change the oil. So where exactly does it say that it recommends you to change at 7000?
"The maintenance light is programmed to come on at about 7500 miles after last reset. It will actually start to stay on longer after starting at about 5000 miles after the last reset."
I have one more question to add onto this thread. Why is the MAINT light programmed to come on at 7500 miles...
04 4Runner SE
Ok so I was just wondering since I didn't notice it until now. The MAINT light blinks a few times before stopping when I turn on the engine. Does that mean I need an oil change or when the MAINT stays lit? I have no clue because I just changed my oil and the MAINT light still...
I haven't found anything I hate about my 4runner yet but the thing I hate about it isn't Toyota. It's the aftermarket Alpine stereo system. The thing I hate about this is my buttons on my steering wheel doesn't work with it and the radio for the rear seat. Also, I hate how the volume works...
wow thanks for the fast reply. So much to read lol. I never really thought about the break in thing and this is really something to think about. It's either trust the dealers and manual or trust this info?
