OEM Brake pads Advics or Akebono?

Hello to all, and a question to all: I know that Advics supplies the Tahara plant with brake pads for the 5th gen. To my knowledge, all 4runners were assembled with Advics pads. So now, I've been finding Akebono pads listed as OEM pads on various web OEM part stores, and not the blue Advics pads. So my question to you is, has anyone had their 4runner shipped from Tahara with Akebono pads? And if I can sneak in a 2nd question - are the Advics pads still available? Thanks in advance to all who reply, and stay safe out there.

Like you, ADVICS seems to be the Tahara assembly line supplier. ADVICS pads and calipers came on my GX, made on the same exact line as the 5th Gen..

IMHO, when you need to do brakes, if at all possible, buy the Toyota factory pads 04465 for front, 04466 for rear and five numbers afterwards...NOT the AZ economy pads. Don't go buy ADVICS stuff from ADVICS.

My factory brakes have worked flawlessly and will probably need replacement at the 40K mark. I'll spend the $$$ for the factory pads, rotors and shims and will get another worry-free 40K out of them.
