Some of you may not like it...some will...it's OK...everyone has an opinion just like everyone has an asshole. As you can see from the thread, it made quite a stir with some forum members!!

I have to admit, I have a problem. I can't resist the urge to be quicker/faster then the vehicle next to me. Every time I ride my motorcycle, I will go to a special place and make one pass that requires WOT of at least 2 or 3 gears (approx 150mph). It must be something like a speed junkie, I get a fix and I'm good for a while. It's sad but true. I feel the need, the need for SPEED!

You want real #s then take it to the drag strip since comparing your truck to random drivers isn't showing you anything.
Post some real numbers and then we can talk since I've seen pretty much everything run at the strip.

Yeah the Rav4 is quicker stock for stock than a V8 4Runner both to 60 mph and in the 1/4 mile. Thanks to even hp ratings and about 800 less lbs in the Rav4. Additionally, you are right there are several midsize SUV's that are much quicker than the 4Runner:

But for the price, the Runner is one of the best values around, I've smoked SUV's costing twice as much...

I can remember feeling this way ever since riding a three wheeled bicycle, as a kid. I'm not kidding, something takes over me. I have to take my motorcycle out every so often to satisfy this need. Every time I ride my motorcycle, I will go to a special place and make one pass that requires WOT of at least 2 or 3 gears (approx 150mph). I can then drive my car/truck for a couple days without having that need. It must be something like a speed junkie, I get a fix and I'm good for a while. It's sad but true. I feel the need, the need for SPEED!

'03 Maxima with a 3.5 with a 6 spd tranny was rated under 5 seconds for 0-60 (and yes, I can personally verify that they are that fast). '06 Runner with a V8 was (at best) 7.8 seconds in 0-60, which puts the runner almost 3 second behind. All of the numbers for an S4 I have seen put it squarely around 6 seconds for 0-60... Since the S4 was full of people and going uphill, I don't think they were really trying (I wouldn't drag with a car load of people).

Don't get me wrong... The V8 Runner is one of, if not, the fastest SUVs on the streets, bypassing most sedans and SUVs.

I used to like to drag on the street, but both parties agreed what the race was and the distance. Now it's just too dangerous unless you have a controlled area (no kids, no animals).

maybe it was a 2000. i dont know. all i know is that we were at the lights and we gave eachother the look. when we took off he was spinning his tires. he might have given up once we hit 45 or 50 to not look like an idiot chasing after me. im just sharing my story of when i beat him. if we were on a drag strip with ideal conditions and he warmed up his tires maybe he would beat me.

And you can leave the pavement if you choose which most of the fastest SUVs are just pretty much glorified station wagons. If I go newer and stick with an SUV there's no question I'd go with a 4th gen.

I think we suffer or enjoy the same problem!!! I just lack the V-8 and the motorcycle as the fix. I have the prior tickets to prove it.
I have my fun with the rare stoplight race to just over the posted limit and I go to the go-kart track now and them. I know what you are all thinking, some go-kart track you see on the side of the road with karts that can't get out of thier own way.

The one I go to has 6 or 9HP racing carts (honda engines). They can reach speeds of 35-40 mph in the straight. It is an inside climate controlled road course. www.rushhourkarting.com you race with 2 to 12 karts on the track. You might not think so but when you get bumped from behind at the end of a straight into the wall it hurts. Its fun it is legal and you still get bump and spin people out sometimes. You go out with a bunch of guys from the office and the one with the fastest laps has bragging rights until the next trip.

I timed it once when my truck was only leveled in the front (05' V8), stock tires, full tank of gas, AC off, level ground, not much wind that I remember. 7.6s taken by an app on my phone. It really doesn't seem much slower now with the 33's and extra weight. I might time it again sometime to compare times.

Just timed it with my current setup.
285's, 3" lift + 1.5" BL, 200lbs of skidplates/sliders.

3 gallons of fuel left in tank, AC off
