I'd park that car until you get more info.... All I know they are stupid expensive for new oem.

have you considered a Master Cylinder Brake Overhaul Kit w/ABS from Toyota? part #0449335340. Comes with all the seals & O rings that our MS has....call a dealer and see if that would solve your problem....:shrug:

Man - I have had the issue you are having now and this is my experience. When my original Master Cylinder was failing, bought one from Advance Auto. It was a re-man in the AISIN casting. It lasted MAYBE two years. I just replaced it with a NAPA part and it seems good. The re-man kit from Toyota is prolly the best route for the $$$$

I bought a slave cylinder from advance. Still good
But better than the Aisin that it came with from the factory? Doubt it. A knowledgeable mechanic will tell you that they try not to waste their time with these aftermarket pieces. I've had multiple mechanics tell me that you're better off getting a used master cylinder from a junkyard as opposed to a remanufactured aftermarket piece. Just saying, since they run a business and don't want to waste time warrantying crappy parts.
No. Probably not better. Will it work for a long period of time? Yes probably most likley. Is it something to truly search a junk yard for or pay a lot of money for from dealer. Probably not. Are OEM parts the bomb. Hell yeah. Are parts from advance good. Yes, I have them on my truck. The best option and they are
Doing very well. And I wheel and flex my truck. I could have got the part for $200+ from dealer. But I got it for $50 and it works.
I got my clutch from autozone. It said made in Japan and on the clutch it said EXEDY. It was $170. Or go to dealer and pay 300-500. For same clutch.
Lot of guys get remanufactured tundra calipers. Or Napa brand. And it's good.
But I agree with you bud. OEM is always the way to go.

I am a strong believer in the above statement. I deal with toyotas since 1997 and will get OEM good used toyota part over a reman part.
OP: use the reair kit from the dealer.
You should be able to find a good low mile master pump from a junk yard. I sold few but their reservoirs are all cracked. NO returns so far.

I bought a slave cylinder from advance. Still good
I've had clutch master and slave cylinders bad out the box. Would not even engage clutch after hundred times trying to bleed it. Or would have clutch drag at high rpm. Aisin is the only way to go.

all the local yards are zero on this item. the 2 i deal with sell them in a new york second, along with abs/trac module. i would have to get one on ebay.
but i found a 2002 sport truck that i am buying over the weekend and if those parts are good, i'm swapping them. but i wll also look into the repair kit. a new master lists for 3k! abs module $1,700, throttle body $1,200. ouch!

I think [MENTION=71030]T4R2014[/MENTION] hit it on the nail with Advics.
My family friend said the same thing. Though I didn't quiet understand is Advics the OEM supplier for the brakes calipers/clyinders, or the company that does the remaning only? the Advics caliper we put on our 4th gen look brand new compared to the centrics calipers we put on the few years ago.
I know 4th gens have a lot of issues with calipers, but I wonder how many of the second time repairs have to redo their brakes was because of crap remans, not the caliper design themselves. Who knows.
I dunno, if its just me, but I take the safest choice when it comes to brakes.
