AC Dead

Quick check-in on the new AC system. First off, I wasn't sure what to fill the heater core firewall gap with. As mentioned I was considering duct seal, and that is what I ended up using:

On paper it's the perfect material; inert, holds its shape under high temp. It stays RATHER malleable due to the high temps but at the same time stays put. Perhaps not the most optimal solution but definitely cheap and easy.

Beyond that AC is working great, I leave the truck in AUTO all the time and it does what it is supposed to.

The only issue so far is that it seems to be excessively cycling. About twice per minute. From some reading this can be caused by a bad thermistor (a part I regretted not replacing but is apparently doable without pulling the dash, so that's good. Not sure if the issue warrants further exploration or not. Probably just leave it alone for the time being. Like I said, it works perfectly, just seems to cycle more than expected.

Hopefully my last followup on this topic. AC still working great.

Everything went back together great but I eventually noticed that I no longer had 4WD. I ran down the basics and eventually narrowed it down to the 4WD knob, which had a bent pin:

Dumb luck caused me to check the connector on the back of the knob.

Easy fix; used a pry tool to bend the pin back off the sidewall there, and then with the knob in my vise I used two flatheads on either side to straighten it back out. 4WD working again.
