01 4Runner brake problem!! PLEASE HELP

So i adjusted the brakes and it didn't really help. So i decided to bleed them again... and again, no help.

I drove it for a few days after and the brakes acted the same. Low pedal and I have to push very hard to get it to stop. Well today, after not driving it for a few days, I come home to see a puddle under the driver door. (I have a steep driveway) Well I look and its break fluid. I can see it that its coming from the firewall. I pop the hood and the brake fluid is coming out of the brake fluid reservoir cap! I know I didnt over fill it... can some one please help me figure out what is wrong with these brakes!

sounds like your master is leaking or a line is leaking also check to make sure your booster didnt go out

Low pedal sounds like brake booster gone bad. That's the symptom I had on a previous vehicle. Take it to a shop and get a diagnosis. Then fix it yourself. Good luck.

Master cylinder more than likely. IF you can bleed that fluid out of all the lines, then it is the MC. If not, then may be a collapsed line or some other obtrusion in the line (doubtful).

If it was the brake booster, the pedal would be hard as heck to depress to engage the brakes.

The pedal is hard to push until i give it a quick pump. Then it feels much better. Also its leaking out of the cap not the back of the master cylinder.

When you adjusted the brakes. the fluid would be pushed back into the master cylinder. This could account for the extra fluid.

If it is REAL hard pushing the brakes, the check valve could be bad. Mine only acted up in the extreme cold. one push was hard, the second was normal.

The pedal goes down too far and I have push real hard to stop. But while im stopping if i give it a pump it will bring the pedal back up and the braking takes less force with my foot. I hope that makes sense.

also, i adjusted the brakes then i drove it for a day. Then i rebled the rear brakes. I refilled the fluid to the max line and drove it around for another few days with no leaks. Now it just started leaking out of the cap.
