01' 4Runner SR5 - Black Beast Pt II

so im gonna copy you and make me some shock mounts like that too, i love that idea, do you have to run wheel spacers? or is there enough room for the shock there already?

Your junk as in what? 4runner or just parts? That really sucks.
Ha! Yea, I say 'junk' affectionately - if it's junk I don't mind beating it up offroad!

sorry to hear that man. Lame Just Lame. crummy thieves :bash:
Yea, very lame. Might have a happy ending though!

What? Not your truck though right?

I was about to ask if those were the LC springs I sold you last year...haven't seen you post much since I joined T4R.
Yea - they stole the 4Runner. One in the same coils - they were working well!

:nono: Damn, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.
****ty deal indeed - fingers crossed it's not too bad once I get to see it in person.

Hard call - I would at least get a low offset wheel to move the tire out enough to clear. Can't say I tried flexing it without spacers on it so as a requirement, couldn't tell ya.

The kid got it started... brought back the build thread.

Let's see some more of King Kong. :guitar3:
I've still got parts sitting in my garage waiting to go on! It will be nice to work on things in a SAFE garage soon enough. Things are working out nicely to take possession on October 21st.

Well, here are some updates:

- Driven ~ 700km and then driven around (put on close to 3000 km).
- Painted 2-tone as to not attract attention (added skulls for cool factor)
- Driven through orchard during escape and ditching (broke roof rack)
- Decided CBI picnic table and gas can carrier were crap - they gone!
- Left behind some baby socks (had no problem bringing kids along - disturbing)
- Stole the quilt - probably has bas**** kid using it
- No worse for wear (visually - besides paint) and will be receiving mechanical this week!

WOW. I'm amazed that there was not more damage. I think you really lucked out here man.

That sucks ass that they messed up that beautiful black paint. The CBI parts can be replaced, in fact I bet they'd hook you up considering the circumstances, and the roof rack.... well, now you have an excuse to upgrade.

Sorry to hear the quilt didn't come back though.

Glad to see you got your baby back man! The skulls don't look too bad...but I'd ditch the two tone.....
Two tone has to go! Local bodyshop is working on getting it back to where it was.

The quilt was the worst part! Oh well, at least I'll have the 4Runner in the stable again! I'll be contacting Nathan @ CBI regarding a few new parts...

nice!! glad u got it back man. any details on who it was or how they found the truck?
No details on who but apparently they were towing a stolen boat when pulled over. When the police was checking their info the disconnected the boat and drove off (or so I hear). Then took off into an orchard and ditched the truck, hence the roof rack damage (tore off a cross bar).

all right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so happy for you my man, make sure the insurance pay for all this damage
Insurance has been pretty decent so far! Fingers crossed I get it back soon!

Luck is turning the tides to your favor, insurance wise it seems. I wish your truck the full recovery it deserves.:thumb3:

The 4Runner should be alive and kicking next week (fingers crossed). Just details to be worked out.

Body shop called and it's all shined up and back to stock paint! I'm certainly looking forward to getting it back.

Time to order stiffer shocks along with a remote alarm/starter combo!

you should put in a remote fuel cut off swtich. something that dissables the fuel pump, it should be easy to to as all the wiring for the fuel pump comes up onto the cabin just under the left side rear passengers seat... just some food for thought, im gonna be doing something like this soon

Good call - thanks for the reminder, it's on my list too... Any templates / instructions on how to accomplish this? (minus switch location of course - that's just for me to know...).

not yet, ive been looking for a keyed lock unit, kinda like the lock on a tool box, 90* turn, key in the "off" position cuts power to the fuel filter, key in the "on" position gives it power. was thinking a small key kinda like this...

Im stoked it's back David! Glad the skulls and two tone are gone!

You've got me inspired to get an alarm/starter too. I have been looking on here: Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers

There is a Viper one that has an App for the Iphone where you can perform all of the functions from your phone like arm, start, un-arm etc. I think it even has GPS so if it does get jacked you can trace it with Google maps.

Let's go wheeling soon! Maybe you should trek down here for a weekend?!?!

fyi if its got the ability to be locked unlocked ect from your phone, im sure someone else can hack that and you just made it all that much easier to to steal with out all the physical damage caused by busting ignition locks and ripping out wiring ect. just my .02

True but Im sure it requires a password of some sort and I am sure there is some thought behind the whole system.... it wouldnt be as easy as stealing your phone and driving away.
