01' 4Runner SR5 - Black Beast Pt II

I picked up this guy (Autopage C3-RS1100OLED) for the Tundra and will probably grab the same one for the 4Runner.

Our local electronic guru (oriontaco) recommends Autopage and says install is pretty easy along with being reliable.

I am definitely down for some wheeling when I actually get everything sorted out, it's still in the body shop and as I'm working, it will stay there for another week or so. On the plus side, I'll be moving into my new place October 21st and do have some time booked off for that... My schedule is so random it's hard to plan for stuff!

Thanks! I can't wait to finally get it back after it's little adventure - got the call from the body shop today and all I need is a replacement license plate and insurance and I can drive it away!

Couple things which I will have to complete before considering it back to normal:

- Diff fluid swap (front and rear - want to see what the magnetic plugs have to tell me)
- Oil and filter change
- CBI Rear bumper table and gas can holder (stolen off of rig)

Once those are complete I can get back to modifying it, I think gears and lockers are in the works.

Thanks - and yes, it was a stroke of good luck that I got it back in decent shape. I was pretty depressed about it for a while.

But on to more mods!

Just ordered the Air Raid intake silencer tube - figured this would be an easier option than constructing my own. Perhaps making it easier to water seal the intake as well - it will in line with my snorkel (sitting in garage - waiting for install...).

Also picked up a Spyder 3rd tail light (LED) which should match the rear LED tail lights nicely.

Now I have to find the time to get all this crap installed...

Installed the steering rack bushings and HOLY CRAP! what a difference!

The stock ones were worn pretty bad and came out looking nothing like the new ones gong in. Stabilized the steering wheel play and the 4Runner drives fantastically now.

Also completed my fluid changes after getting it back - all fluids were clean (besides oil but that I expected) and minimal shavings / only normal shavings on drain plugs.

Finally getting comfortable driving it again, never know what it went through while I didn't have it.

I'll post up some pictures soon, I've got to make use of my time at home as I don't know how long it will last. So many projects with a new house / acreage.

- Safari Snorkel
- Pioneer 4300 Double DIN headunit
- Bluetooth
- Back Up Camera (automatically turns on when in reverse)
- iPod Cable
- Parking brake bypass
- Blue Sea Fuse Block
- Rear Emblems painted

Also had my rear shocks arrive in Montana (Fox RR) and so hopefully they will help stiffen up the rear end when I get a chance to install them.

Stereo was a PITA but it's all done and functional!

The mods are excellent... just one question though... why the velcro on the upper mounting bracket of the snorkel? Once you cut the fender you're pretty much committed... why not pop a couple holes with the drill and use screws/bolts on the windshield frame as well?

Also, I've been eyeballing those those hood lifts for a long time. Very nice.

And btw, you're a mofo for using the term RCSB around me. I never knew they made those trucks, and now I want one.

I decided to not screw into the upper A-pillar just for the rust factor... the 3 bolts securing it to the fender hold it pretty tight and the velcro secures the top. It doesn't budge, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Hood lifts are sooooo nice - having them in the Tundra I was spoiled and frustrated at using a hood prop on the 4Runner.

The RCSB is killer - I am so happy I went with this combo as opposed to a lager version. I don't need the cab space (even a 65 lb black lab fits behind the seat in the Tundra - ****, I've had 2 dogs back there!) and the road / parking lot manners make up for it. Feels like I'm driving a truck half the size of a full size but with the big ass engine!

Went ahead and wired up my rock lights (Vision-X Tantrum Kit) which went pretty smoothly. Only real complication was determining routing of the cables and final placement of the lights (spots where they won't get crushed -hopefully!).

Here are some pics of the results, I'm pretty happy with them and are a nifty mod for showing off in the dark. This fuse block is filling up quick - I love it!

I decided to mount the controller in the glove box to keep the CO CKpit relatively clean - unfortunately this is a bulky controller and can't be discreetly hidden from view / modified to use with a simple 'On/Off' switch. This certainly does the job nicely, covert for sure!

Picked up these bad boys at the border yesterday - couldn't wait to get em installed so that was today's project.

Fox 2.0 RR - 10" Travel - External Compression Adjustment Dial

Had to mount them as shown due to the reservoir hose coming out perpendicular to the eye and therefore top shock mount. No matter, Fox says I can mount them however I want, and so the body went to the bottom and the reservoir line is somewhat protected by the brake drum.

Probably have to get some sort of lower shock mount protection...

I'll get some better pictures up tomorrow.

What was wrong with the 5150's? They are already better than 99% of the shocks people own on this website.

Gonna sell them? May be interested..



BTW love those hood lifts. I have also been eying that mod for a while now. My hood lift pole is on its last leg, literally.

Any more info on those??



BTW, dont know if you remember, but we decided to stick with the f150 for a while instead of getting that tundra, its paid off and all. Added a leveling kit and some bigger BFG AT's.
