02 SE AWD strange rubbing noise?

Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone would be able to let me know if this is something that I should take to have looked at or if it’s normal. Essentially, here’s the setup: I pull onto a road from a stop sign, making a right turn onto a road that is going uphill. So when I do this (actually did it to test if the AWD would engage) in rainy conditions I see the indicator light come on and then I feel the front wheels engage. But at the same time, I hear a weird almost grinding sound somewhere beneath my feet. I have no idea how to really describe it. But I’m assuming that this isn’t normal. What I was wondering is could this be a result of the unusual angle of turning onto a road that is going uphill when the AWD engages. I really appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide with this.

could have been your traction control kicking in...kind of a clicking and whirring noise?

It's definitely a result of the traction control kicking in. However, I'm not 100% if the sound is the way that it should be or not. It sounds almost like a grinding sound, but it's only on for a split second so I can't really get a feel for the sound.

yeah. the first time you hear it you wonder what it is. if you're worried about it, take it in to your dealer and have a service guy ride with you and see if it sounds right. I bet it's prolly ok.
