sounds like the best bang for the buck. . .I'm just remaining cautious about this sort of upgrade until (a) someone has tried it and posted impressions on the board, and (b) someone has clearly shown that it won't destroy the engine. In order to preserve the warranty, I'd have to have the "geniuses" over at Toyota install it, and if I can't even get them to install my brush guard right. . .

I never said it wasn't a lot of money, but $42/hp seems reasonable given that it is factory warrantied by Toyota. . .your twin turbo setup on your mustang isn't warranted by ford, and by the time you actually get all the forged internals necessary to keep that think from throwing a rod from the massive amounts of torque it'll be putting down, you'll be into the $6-7k figures.
My point is that you can drop nearly $700 on a catback and drop in for our trucks and you'll barely net 7hp. That's $100/hp. So, if you do the math, supercharging her is smart for net hp. Reliability is technically covered by the TRD warranty. ANd you don't have to worry about getting different internals since max moost is limited to 6 or 8psi, and that isn't across a very wide torque band. . .(although I haven't seen dyno chart yet. . .)

From what I've read this kit acts as an intercooler, not only does it help increase your superchargers hp but it also kills the ping issue by acting as an intercooler. Thought you might be interested. heres some info:

does that 7th injector kit work with the V8 models?? I thought it was a fix for the problems the 3.4L V6 models had with the supercharger and pinging. . .
Reading over the V8 specs, looks like the fuel mapping has taken those previous problems into consideration, maybe they've programmed something similar into the V8 kits???

If some of you are having pinging problems did you think about a Water/Methanol injector setup. They are supposed to lower the intake charge temp and allow you to run more boost and or timing for more power. Just a thought.

It would just be nice if the aftermarket starts cranking out some parts at decent prices for the 3rd gen 4Runner. The more of these vehicles that are out there and the greater the demand for parts, the better the prices. Right now the stuff is expensive. I would like to see Kenne Bell develope a twin screw for this vehicle. It would be a hell of a lot better than the TRD part.

Other parts don't have the HP/$. But they also don't have so many potential problems. Your results may vary.

my mustang is my toy not my daily driver but it could be except in the winter.
The more people there are expressing interest in aftermarket supercharger the more likely one will be developed. Kenne Bell already has a butt load of applications from cars to trucks. They even have a kit for the 03 Cobra.

I just fired off a email to Kenne Bell.org to see if they might think about developing a system for the new 4Runner. Hey its worth a try. The more people that express an interest the more likely it will happen.
If I get a response from them I will post it here if no one has a problem with that.

Secondly, Kenne Bell is more for American trucks/SUVs and cars. I doubt that they will have much interest in Toyota truck engines.
Now, if they were to offer a turbocharger, then it may interest some people. However, truck/SUV engines and turbos don't mix well because most truck/SUV drivers don't need the high-end power push of a turbo...thus, S/Cs are much more popular among SUV/trucks (low and midrange power boost).

Kenne Bell did respond and they said that nothing is in the works but it might be something they would consider.
The more people that inquire the better the chances are something would be developed. That also goes for anything else out there in the aftermarket. This forum is a great place to get a bunch of us togther to voice opinions and make inquires to let the aftermarket companies know that we are here and looking for more stuff for our 4Runners.
