03 intermitent sunroof

HI,

Can someone tell me where the sunroof motor is located?

I seem to have an intermitent power problem with my sunroof. I hold the switch in either position and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'd like to check the motor connector to see if it's getting power to it when the switch is in either position.

Unless of course it's the dreaded hardened grease problem, but I've never heard and binding or cracking going on when the thing actually works.

The motor is located under the front headliner, above where the switch is. Before you start taking stuff apart lube the track with grease, and re-initialize the power moon roof. Think disconnecting the battery for a minute, after that hold the moon roof switch down for a few seconds after it is fully opened and then fully closed. Before you unhook the battery, put moon roof in closed position.

It's a long shot, but you don't have anything to loose by trying that.

Where are the cables located, front and back? I assume they must run from the front then around the sides to the back pulleys or something.

Can you lube enough of the works or all of the works that continue to plague these units without removing everything?

I think it would be easier to remove the fuse for the moonroof than disconnecting the battery.

Do you think it is being intermitent because of the motor overload cutting in?

Removing the fuse, or unplugging it will not re-initialize it. You have to take the power off of the body control module that controls the moon roof.....easiest way is to unhook battery.

Should only have to re-do the auto windows. It most likely will not help, it sounds like you have a cable drive binding issue. But, reinitializing the system is free, and worth a shot.

Funny thing is I've never heard any binding before. I haven't used since last fall and it hasn't been really warm here yet so maybe I'll wait until it warms up some.
