'03 SR5 VSC/TRAC Off Lights

So my 4R started this morning and the VSC TRAC OFF and VSC OFF lights remained lit despite me restarting the car a couple of times. I looked under the good and couldn't find any loose/disconnected wires though. Anyone got any insight into what could be causing it?

The situation did not change when I locked and unlocked my center diff.

Do a zero point calibration and they will go out, it is very easy to do.

I would also get the battery tested, I'm going to guess it was very cold that morning. With the '03 & '04 model years the Zero Point Calibration data gets erased/corrupted when the battery voltage dips below about 12 volts.

Were there any other lights in addition to the traction control lights, i.e. did you also have a check engine light on the left hand side of the gauge cluster? Were the lights accompanied by anything else out of the ordinary upon initial start-up, like a rough idle?

Interesting information. I've had my Runner almost 10 years now and this is the first time I ever had to do a ZPC. Yota battery is two years old and it's been below zero here before.

Been running with those same lights on, Vsc off/Vsc trac off for a few years now... Don't really have a need for traction control... It has not affected the handling in any on road, off road, snow, ice, or any other road condition that I have come across... Thought about doing the ZPC, but why mess with a good thing...

Interesting, typically what I have seen when the ZPC is erased/corrupted the Traction Control system becomes overly aggressive and/or starts kicking in when its not supposed to because it thinks you're losing control. You may have a different issue than a simple ZPC calibration loss?

Nope, nothing like that... never kicks in, and has never been a problem.... It was on when it was purchased... did some reading about it, but it did not meet any of the criteria, or have any of the problems anyone else has had, so i have just left it... doesn't effect the ruck in any way, shape, form, or fashion that i am aware... been riding around in the snow for a few days, in 2 and 4wd, and the 4R just goes and goes... i can honestly say that if was creating a problem, i'd do the ZPC, but since it acts like it is supposed to, i'll continue to think about doing it, but really don't see the need....

Its a spare/play vehicle for me, since the wife has her car, and i have a work truck, so it's no big deal to me... and the fact that the truck has 205k and climbing higher each weekend...

No lights beyond those mentioned. It did come in very useful during the snow recently though - the Yorktown Police Department wasn't too happy with me on Thursday morning though!
