'03 sunroof wind deflector whistle

Spring is coming, so I'll take another stab at this...

My sunroof's built in wind deflector causes a whistle in the range of 35-50 MPH - which makes it practically worthless since I bought the truck new. If I pull the deflector down about 1/4", it still works great and doesn't whistle. Does anybody know if there is an adjustment for this height? I don't see anything in the FSM.

The truck came with an external wind deflector/sun visor, but that causes horrible buffeting unless the rear window is cracked open.

I know mine has a super annoying whistle on the driver side of the windshield, and I know alot of local glass places can isolate and fix those. Have you already tried checking bolts pieces etc?

To be clear, mine only whistles when fully open - not when closed or tilted up.

Another question...does your 4th gen sunroof windshield deflector have only two positions - all the way up when you're going slow and when you hit 55-60 MPH or so a motor pulls it down some? That's what mine does, but the FSM implies that the height may be proportional to speed and not just two positions: "up" or "down".

hmmm......I've never heard or seen mine lower itself at higher speed when i tilt it up. mine is an 04' dunno if that makes a difference but I would have to check here when i leave in a couple hours

i didnt know the deflector even moved

I will say even over 70 my moonroof isnt loud at all or any weird noises

Yes. It does 2 positions that are determined by the speed you are going. My guess is that mechanism is no longer operating. It could be a gunked up spring or some other minor issue.

Here's a picture to clear up what I'm talking about.

If there isn't an adjustment for the "fully open" height, I'll try tying the spring to limit how high it can open the deflector.

I'm guessing most people have the external wind deflector that came on the truck, so this is not an issue.
