Sunroof deflector/wind shield

So there are 2 i'm looking at on ebay.

One says OEM (or JDM) and the other is generic.

Any difference? Both are 3M adhesive. Is it louder when the sunroof is open and one of these are on? The little hinged thingie that sticks up when you open the roof starts beating out a rhythm about 65+ MPH and while its kinda fun sometimes..the constant whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop gets annoying.

GEneric $25
Sunroof Moonroof Visor Wind Deflector Bug Rain Shield Vent Sunvisor Fit Toyota | eBay

JDM $36
35 inch 880 mm JDM Sun Moon Roof Guard Smoke Visor Wind Deflector for Toyota | eBay

will i notice the difference? maybe the fit is better on the so-called JDM version?

This may be totally dumb, but all I have to do to get rid of the "whoop whoop" is open the rear hatch window about 1-3".

Verified that it works in my rig up to 95+ MPH.

Haha on the verification. That wasn't necessary but thank you for your trial :P

I believe you are talking about "cavity resonance." The air passing over the open window forces the cavity, in this case, your car cabin to resonate. Just like blowing across the top of a bottle. By building pressure, it thumps repetitively until cabin pressure is lowered.

the resonance is the front metal bracket bouncing up and down if I hold it with my hand it stops

Pretty much the same

Those strike me as pretty much the same item; I hope I'm not photobombing your post but here are actual pics of the JDM sunroof deflector/wind shield.

It comes with clips in addition to adhesive; same as the JDM window visors. If you do a crappy install over time your adhesive may go but the clips will still secure things. Also, one feature of this thing that I like is that in the middle (very hard to see) there is a piece that you pull down and air flowing over the truck flows into the cabin circulating between the driver and passenger. A friend had this on his 97 and now I'm looking to get one before I head back home. Good luck on your purchase!

Good question...

That's pretty slick. Wonder if it would fit under my roof rack though?

Afraid I'm not sure on that one...

These are also harder to find since nothing gets made for 3rd gens anymore by Toyota. My white unicorn though is a JAOS ladder...

looks really good..now i'm thinking the JDM one on ebay i posted above is a fake..i don't see the little adjustable part in the middle on it at all.

How can I purchase one?
