FJ steelies
It really depends on the truck and the tires. The nice things about the FJ steelies is that they have a more aggressive offset so the truck ends up with a wider stance.
I have the regular 18" Limited rims for use with summer tires however the steelies work great for my winter tires.

I have a 05 Sport and I am considering buying a set of the FJ 17" steel wheels so I can mount a set of snow tires on them. For you 4th generation owners that have done this, do you change the lug nuts to the FJ cruiser lugs or do you just use the 4runner lugs with the steel wheels?? Additionally does any one have any specs on the actual weight of the SE wheels vs the FJ 17" steel wheels. I have been searching, but this specific info on weight is hard to find. I would perfer to go with alloy rims like a set of reasonably priced used SE wheels or any styles of the FJ alloy 17" wheels if I can find some, but I am trying to keep the cost down since I also need to buy 4 new snow tires.

Damn, I feel sorry for the OP of this thread with all the feedback. I bet it looks better in person and it definitely would look better with a lift and some ATs. But I never liked these wheels, even on the FJs, reminds me of the Honda Civic owners that brag about black rims when they just removed their hubcaps off their stock wheels.
I saw the title of your post and hoped it was in the for sale section because I really like the steel wheels. Yes, even after seeing the pic I still do. Don't concern yourself with what the folks here are saying, odds are you wouldn't be impressed with their trucks any more than they are yours.

A local guy was selling them for $150 in perfect condition with bald-ish tires. I was looking to get them for the totaled truck to get my nice rims off of it. I didn't because I bought a set of 1985 4Runner wheels and tires for $100 from a junk yard. No they didn't turn but it was totaled and couldn't even drive anyway lol.
My point is these can be found pretty cheap if you really want them. I saw a few over on the FJ forum for around the same price a couple months ago.
I did this same mod last year to my truck because I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos from my previous '03 2WD 4R. I love the look of the black FJ steelies on my '04 Sport with the beefier tires. Suits me fine in the NE Ohio snowbelt and keeps my alloys lookin good for the summer. I would go with black lugs tho.. just my opinion.
