04 Limited. New pads ride out past rotor

I have an 04 Limited 4Runner. I just replaced calipers and rotors and pads. Bought remanufactured calipers from Autozone. Rotors are exact match for old as are pads.
calipers were listed for 17" wheels. However, pads hang over edge of rotor by 1/2 ".
Note the photo. What gives? Everything bolted on easily. Thanks dave

Just to throw this out there, but are you sure you have the larger sport rotors? It was optional on the limited, so some do and some do not...

Kinda looks like your calipers are too large for your rotors, or vise versa. Something isn't matching up. Perhaps you put smaller rotors on?

I have a Sport, which came with the larger rotors and wheel and mine do not look like that. It is pretty obvious that unless you bolted something up wrong (not possible, I think) you have mis-matched components.

That's one reason I don't like parts from Autozone or other discount auto-part stores.

They look like they are installed properly. I've replaced the pads and calipers on my 4runner twice now...and they were a perfect fit...The caliper was a remained and new pads...both from Wagner.

DC Runner is probably right. Looks like they sold you the pads for the smaller rotors.

Again another reason why I don't buy pads from Auto-zone.

I was just hunting around and found that the Limited had 16" wheels. Dang. Hope Autozone takes these puppies back.

Rotors look too small or calipers are too big. Did you take the old ones back? Check your casting numbers on the old ones. Autozone is a little confused in their description. The wheel size does not dictate the rotor and caliper size. Oddly though they do list it correctly for the Rotors. They list one part number for an SR5/Limited and one for a Sport. The sports had the larger rotor. I am guessing you got a 31327 for the rotor and c9920 & 21 for the calipers. I would probably just take the Rotors back and get the larger rotors. That would be easier than having to swap out the calipers.

Yea. Pads are the same for either rotor size. If the rotors matched your old ones, I am assuming you bought the wrong calipers..

No. Totally my screwup. I bought Centric Rotors and Toyota pads online like 6 months ago. They were for the Limited, and the rotors were smaller than Sport.
I then just purchased calipers from Autozone. When it said 17" wheels, I assumed mine were 17" because the tires are huge, and it's a Limited.
I even measured the hub area and came up with 17", so I bought the wrong calipers. Looks like Autozone will take them back if I drain brake fluid from them. I hope.

I don't think it is your fault. Autozone really needs to correct their information. They have different information for rotors, calipers, and loaded calipers. Rotor information is correct, calipers is wrong, loaded calipers list by diameter which is technically correct, but confusing. There is another thread with info on the castings. I don't think there is a difference between the two smaller casting, but some people get all crazy and demand the same ones. I would just want two that were the same.

An interesting thing is that the pads are the same for the two different sizes so you really are not getting more stopping power in surface area, just difference in distance from the center.

Yes. It is confusing. I looked at their return policy, and it looks like they are returnable. It just says to remove as much fluid as possible.. Mine are 13WG, which are available at Autozone. What a PITA.

just buy the bigger rotors thats on sport edition, your half way there with the calipers and pads, i know the pads are the same for sr5 , sport and limited.
