I was at my dealer today just north of Toronto, and he told me that they can install a TRD supercharger on a new 04 V8, I thought I read somewhere that the superchargers have been discontinued ????

whats the point of supercharging a SUV? if u want to race cars wouldnt u just get a already fast car than add a turbo to it or something? or does a supercharger affect offoading too?

Yes, the supercharger can help offroading as it creates a lot more torque down low. Also, whats the point of hopping up an SUV, -hey whats the point of hopping up a Honda? Its called personal preference, and the ultimate sleeper, you wouldn't believe how many Mustang GTs I blew away with my supercharged 2k 4runner! The look is priceless.

could a supercharged 97 runner beat mustant gts? thats awsome, but ur right they are some real sleeper cars, noone wouldsuspect it

I completely agree. I don't have a SC but I love jumping off the line next to cars that think they are fast. Sure a lot of them could beat me if they really tried, but I still love the look on there face when the see my SUV charge like it does. Or it could be all in my mind, but I like the feeling. My gas mileage is really feeling my heavy foot, but I am enjoying every penny of it. I can only imagine how much fun a '05 w/ SC would be! Mmmmm! Drool! Keep in mind, I'm no speed nut......if I was I would "just get a already fast car than add a turbo to it or something". I just love my runner and love what it can do.......I don't have any fantasies about it being a sports car.....don't want it to be......and am not going to treat it like one either. It is what it is, it does what it does, and most of us absolutely love it.limited04 said:

Carefull what you say now, I test drove a new Audi S4 with the 4.2 V8 in it, and damn was it fast. Although its like comparing apples to oranges. I think a SC in a 4runner would be great fun, best of both worlds.

As you say, the A4 and S4 are just not the same car. I liked the A4, it just doesn't have much power. I was able to beat a BMW M3, but that's only because the road had a lot of curves and the other driver was clueless (still felt good though). However, on a long and straight and empty freeway late at night, a Mazda (don't remember what model) blew me away. I could only hang my head in shame.
I would love an Audi S4 or RS6. Just not willing to part with the cash.
