that is awesome. Why in the world anyone would take a 4runner to the track is baffling to me, but for it to beat a 'stang in a drag race is still pretty impressive! :)
 
And I'm sure that's NOT a V8 under that Mustangs hood.

My brother owned a 81 Mustang with a 4 cylinder. It really was just a re-badged Pinto.
 
Not that impressive when they are beating a V6 Mustang of that era which were prett slow and couldn't even muster under a 16 second 1/4 mile. Even the mid '90s V8s only had 215hp which still was pretty weak and probably still get beat by a V8 or even V6 4Runner.

WOT acceleration is not bad for a car. Assuming it's at operating temp, he's not dropping it into neutral, or power braking there is nothing wrong with this.

Why not? I plan on taking mine to the track. It's just for fun, if I had a fast car I would take that but I don't. It's not like i'm taking it to the circuit for some high speed cornering! Plus I want to see the french kids face when my 4runner walks away from his "tuned" civic. I've seen dually diesels, Jeep GCs, all sorts of vehicles at the track, so why not a 4runner.

I love racing bros in Civic Si's. The look on their faces from a dead stop or when passing them on the highway is priceless.

My thoughts exactly..... I'm all for speed and handling but that's what I have a fun car for, currently a z06. I wouldn't even want to know what my 4r would do in the 1/4 as I'd probably be disgusted.

The video would have been impressive had it been an 03 SVT Cobra or something that you know, wasn't a God awful year known to be slow.
