Am 1,000 miles away from home (Texas) in the mountains and yesterday tried to shift from 2wd to 4hi. Lights started blinking but never shifted. Switched back to 2wd; the amber center diff lock light came on (solid); the green 4wd light kept blinking, and the amber VSC OFF light came on. I tried various shifts/stops/starts, etc but have not gotten anything to shift. The good news (I think) is that it appears I'm still in 2wd and the center diff does not appear to be locked. I drove 10 miles or so on the highway and seemed normal.
Am outside of a little mountain town where I really don't want to try to find a mechanic, so the questions are: 1) any home remedies to try? I did a search and found similar, but not the same issue and 2) can we get a collective vote that it might be ok to drive back to Texas in a few weeks? Thanks for your thoughts...
