06 Center console/armrest creaking

The dealership called to say they found the problem.

To fix it properly they are going to replace the Seat Track for the drivers seat. :(

Since they have to order the part, I won't know if this is the right fix until late Friday at the earliest or possibly Monday.

:bash:

I am hopefull however. ;):

Have you had the seat track replaced yet? Mine has stopped creaking all together and when I took it in for service they said they heard no creaks even with the seat in the full down position.

Well I picked up my T4R late today...

AND THE CREAKING IS GONE!! :awais:

They replaced the drivers seat frame. Now all is silent within my 4Runner. :D

I have to give a HUGE Thumps Up to the Service Department of Power Toyota in Irvine! Once they located the source of the creaking sound they chose the best fix to totally eliminate it isn't of half stepping in hopes of minimizing or reducing it. :bigok:

Glad to hear they were able to resolve it. I still hear a creak or two. I read elsewhere about then replacing the seat frame, hope that resolves it for good for you. Now if I could only get my service dept to be able to hear the creak in mine.

My creaking is starting to come back even with the seat raised up. I guess I will have to wait until it becomes obviously then take it in. If you can't get the problem to display itself on Q with the dealership, they won't fix it. So until it creaks like crazy and you don't have to drive it all over the place on different roads and what not, I will just live with it. Same with the driveline clunk these things have and my squealing I hear when I floor it and it downshifts.

My creaking has gotten much worse. I want to make sure it is painfully obvious before I take it back in again so they can't tell they didn't hear it. It is definitely the seat whether it be the frame or the rails.

THANK YOU!

Stupid techs obviously didn't even research the problem. Even when I had a GM and I had an issue they hadn't seen before, they were all least willing to search the GM database for TSBs. I am really sick of Toyota. They are riding a little too much on their reputation for quality and forgetting customer service to retain current customers. This might be easy enough to do myself and forget about Toyota.

THANKS!

I am so glad I found this thread. I just started experiencing horrible creaking in my 06 Limited. I thought it was plastic on plastic rubbing from the center console, but it appears that it must be the seat after all. Like several posters, I ride with the seat all the way to the floor & all the way back. I will read through all this & see what I can do to get it fixed.

I plan on doing the fix this weekend. No need to waster time making an appt, driving around with a tech to hear it, pointing out the TSB then waiting hours for them to lube 8 points of contact.

Has anyone tried the fix themselves and if so what was the outcome?

Did the fix yesterday. $2.59 and 10 minutes later, I don't have one creak. Very easy fix. I should bill Toyota for my time and materials.
