07 SR5 V6 Clicking sound? or Paranoid?

Hey guys!

Just bought a 07 SR5 V6 with 72k miles a few months ago. I just recently noticed this clicking / knocking sound coming from the left rear of the engine. I'm just trying to figure out if it's normal for the v6 or if anyone has had something simlar. It's really only noticeable with the windows down and im in the garage or a drive thru etc...

I already googled it (trust me that was the first thing I did) I already checked the VSV and it wasn't the source. Also all the videos I saw trying to compare it weren't the 4.0

I have an 07 with the 4.0 and it makes an almost identical sound. I have 158k miles...I bought it at 148 or so and it made that sound when I bought it. I will be curious to see what the replies are. If its something simple I would love to fix it.

I've got an 08 with 120k and notice the same thing. It also sounds like I might have an air leak where my exhaust meets the engine.

Does it sound like lifter/injector noise or is it something else?

If you rev the motor in park, does the sound go away for a moment them come back? The VSV was a faster clicking than what I hear in your video (my thread for comparison with video). Link

Almost sounds like normal valvetrain noise... maybe a slight exhaust tick?

That is more than likely the VSV then. If you want to confirm, just unplug it for a second. If the noise stops, that's it. Normal noise
